Albums of Purgatory interview Global Chaos's Adam Yusop

Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to right now?

Adam Yusop: we're in the midst of recording our 2nd independent release. Scheduled for middle next year. Just focusing on the songs...giving it more weight. More Metal..

AoP: How would you describe the Global Chaos sound?

AY: hahaha! Imagine Benny Hill, Yngwie Malmsteen, Neil Peart, John Paul Jones formed a band...it'll be like us...
We play anything...from death Metal to reggae to heavy metal to Pop to whatever...

AoP: How did you get involved with the band?

AY: It was actually like getting to know more chicks... hahaha... We're quite fed up with the then current situation of late 80's metal more hair
bands...forming so, we actually formed this band to spite them..

AoP: Have you been involved in any other projects?

AY: I'm rather busy with my label. Muzikbox Productions ( currently we 're releasing stuffs like Hirax - the legendary 80's thrash band from San
Francisco and a French Grindcore band...) and at the moment I'm indulging further in my other activities, my newly found spiritual martial arts
avenue - Capoeira ( Brazilian Martial arts)

AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

AY: Yes! We're like the Grindcore version of the Police... It was at an arts festival..we did Queen's Dragon Attack, some reggae tune, and a healthy
dose of Metal in between. People stood there cause there too busy expecting what's the next tune that we're gonna sing in our medley of
grind/metal/jazz jams. We did Bowie's Let's Dance, Billy Idol - Dancing with Myself, and Slayer's South of heaven jazz style... hahahaha! it was
1990.

AoP: What are your favourite Global Chaos tracks?

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

AY: Joey Belladonna on vocals, Diamond Darrell - guitars, Steve Harris - bass, Deen Castronovo - drums
band name - Day Of Reckoning

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

AY: The acceptability of metal to the masses is there. In the 80's there's the hair band movement...where it gained radio airplay... the same goes for
today... Nu-Metal/Rap Metal acts like Linkin Park, Papa Roach and POD have gone mainstream. Clearly it has both the good & bad elements. The good thing is that people will be more open to loud music and subsequently be introduce to more extreme music. The bad part is the poseurs within the scene will multiply like crazy and pollute the scene with their stupidity...
The music industry will always be filled with various people who have a bit of an idea of what their outlook in Metal. To me Metal ie - Crunching
guitars with E chord and staccatto drumming always keeps the adrenaline pumping and Metal is the only genre that can mix with the others like
classical, funk, rap, Progressive, bluesy riffs, industrial, ballads, Pop, Punk and etc. It is indeed exciting to have Malmsteen, Living Colour, Faith
NO MOre, Slipknot, Dreamtheatre, LeD Zep, NIN, Warrant, BOn JOvi, Steve Salas, Motorhead, and others in yer record collection.

AoP: Which other bands in the scene really stand out for you at the moment?

AY: Internationnally, I'm waiting to hear from Skindred. A Reggae/Metal band. Fronted by Ex- Dub War frontman, Benji. I guess it's gonna be exciting. Locally, us...

AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?

AY: It astonishes me that some people can't even pronounce the word Chaos. C-H-A-O-S-. see? They said it countless of times.. Global Crawl, Global Claws, Global Kiosk, Global Cows...So, there.

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Global Chaos?

AY: more recording, live shows, go all the way...
