Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to?

God Dethroned: Writing new material for the new record.

AoP: How would you describe the God Dethroned sound?  Who are your influences?

GD: I would describe it as Scandinavian/US-deathmetal with trash-and black influences

AoP: How did you become involved with God Dethroned?

GD: I sent a cd of my own band called Pandaemonium (at this moment I left the band) after I read in an interview that the band was looking for a new drummer. I did an Audition and it worked out very positive!!

AoP: Was God Dethroned your first band?

GD: No. I've been in two bands before: a deathmetalband called Pandaemonium and a hardcore/metalband called Downslide, both not to well known unfortunately

AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

GD: Yes I can. I was 16 and played in a little club. At that time I thought it was going great, but when I think of it right now..... well....

AoP: Do you have any touring planned?  Can we expect to see you in England any time soon?

GD: Maybe when we finished the new record...

AoP: Which bands have you enjoyed gigging with the most?

GD: Vader

AoP: What are your favourite God Dethroned tracks?

GD: The poison Apple, Serpent King, Grand Grimoire, Ravenous, The Mysteries that make you bleed, Under a silver moon.... actually it's kinda hard to answer...

AoP: What are your favourite all time tracks?

GD: Rapture from Morbid Angel, Angel of Death from Slayer

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

GD: Harmony Corruption from Napalm Death

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

GD: Morbid Angel is actually one of the bands that is working perfect with those players together, especially Trey and Pete are astonishing together!!

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

GD: Well, deathmetal in my opinion will remain underground compared to the more popular music. It's a shame though, because deathmetal should earn much more credits, but the 'common' people do not care about the talented musicians in this genre.

AoP: Do you have any funny stories you can share with us about the band?

GD: The whole band is funny actually, but I can tell you something, well I think it's funny: for about two times I was almost ran over by a car, while walking down the street with my mind totally elsewhere. Everybody was a bit shocked, but I didn't have a clue.

AoP: And finally, what do you see in the future for God Dethroned?

GD: I see the music of God Dethroned getting more heavy, yet more transparant and open. And faster, yet more affective songwriting and a more balanced way of combining the elements of God Dethroned into our music. And we will be playing for a long time!!
