Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to?

Roger Tobias: Well, right now we just doing new songs for an upcoming album but it will take some time before we are going into the studio again . Carl is going away to Greece and after that Waken , Thomas is rehearsing
with his side project  . I try to get contacts so we can do a Euro tour or something later .
AoP: How would you describe the Insision sound?
RT: The thing is that we have not really found the guitar sound that we want on every record so we're still developing at that stage . The sound i think would be perfect is little muddy guitars with pretty much bottom .
But the Songwriting for Insision are very much up and down tempos with pretty much blastbeating parts , that's
how i would describe it . Lyrically it's up to Carl who's writing all the text . It's all from a Satanic view "Before My Altar " to stories about H.P lovecrafts writings that you can here in the last song on the record "Ex Oblivione" .

AoP: How did the band begin in 97?
RT: Actually it was formed from two other bands named Illdoor and Embalmer Who got together and formed Insision. Thomas the drummer is the one who has been there from the beginning . The i came along after a half year or so and then Daniel "Bass" and then Carl "Lyrics" and then Toob "Guitar". So now we are a five piece .
At first we played pretty much straight forward not so fast Death Metal that you can hear on "The Dead Live On" Mcd that we released for Heathendoom records in 1999. . Then after a time when we had played Together
we developed pretty much in more faster arrangements in the songs that was pretty natural for everyone .
And we're still try to go further.
AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?
RT: We have had gigs back in time that has gone pretty bad . You now like Thomas couldn't hear a shit what the guitars where playing and that time we just went on and hoped that we would come in the right track again, but it never happened so we had to stop playing ..... shit.. it was embarrassing. But that was a long time ago and i think it's the same for every band who have played out there.   It's a good thing to have that not every gig has gone smooth. Then you are more focused when you play nowadays . We don't drink so much before gigs now , maybe one or two beers but not more. You can drink with the crowd after the gig instead.

AoP: You have toured with some big names like Dark Funeral, the Haunted and Hypocrisy.  Who have you enjoyed working with the most?
RT: Actually we have not toured with those guys . Only did a few gigs with them and everyone is alright . It's good people. The Haunted guys are great guys and are awesome musicians . Dark funeral are great guys too . It's people who have worked  hard to come to the point they are today.

AoP: What kind of reaction have you been getting from the fans and press for the new album, "Beneath the Folds of Flesh"?
RT: The responses have been pretty good . We have got good reviews in the mags . And the ones who have heard the album seems to like it. Can't wait to go out on tour with the guys .

AoP: What are your favorite Insision tracks?
RT: I think on the record it is the first song "World impaled"  and " My Fever" . But the songs we are working on right now i think is even better . It's kind of the same but with better arrangements . AAARRGGH .....I want to record them right now . What song is your favorite ?

AoP: What are your favorite all time songs and albums?
RT: Shit ....Now comes a hard one. he he ...It is many album depends on what musical style ..hmm
For Death Metal i must say my favorite album is Suffocation's "Effigy Of The Forgotten" or "Despise The Sun" .  But Deicide "Deicide" is fucking great too...
For Jazz it is Kind Of Blue with Miles Davis . And the Song is "Blue In Green" who is actually a ballad so that's maybe disappoints some fans out there he he..

AoP: What was the first record you bought?
RT: Think it was some Alice Cooper record . He's the best beast ..ha ha.

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?
RT: I think it would be:_
Carl Birath ( Vocals ) " Insision"
Jason Morgan ( Guitar ) "Ex Monstrozity"
Doug Cerrito ( Guitar ) "Suffocation"
Steve Di'Giorgio ( Bass ) "Sadus"
Flo Mounier ( Drums ) "Cryptopsy "
That lineup would be cool to hear.

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?
RT: Well.. I think it's great that Death Metal is going strong here in Europe and i really hope that it will continue to
bring out quality bands . I think it's kind of sucks that all the booking ass holes and some arrangements at the places that bands come to play are too fucking expensive and are just thinking about making big monies instead of just sell beer and listen to the fucking music and not rob the listeners and the bands. Bands can't play here in Sweden and Scandinavia cuz it is too fucking expensive for them . It's Shitty .. But i hope it will be a change of that in the future.  The Metal are always going to live. No one can stop us for playing what we are playing. Hate that there are countries that for example Cannibal Corpse can't play all there material for there first releases. And that there still is this fucking 1700th mentality among Christian fanatics who say that we can't come to play cus we don't believe in Jesus or something, Isn't that weird....

AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?
RT: I can't really come up to something right now but it doesn't go one rehearsal when Toob not breaking his strings on the guitar.  Every rehearsal his strings breaks . It's pretty expensive for him..It's sad..

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Insision?

RT: Hope hat we'll make some more records and tour and play as much as we possibly can.
