Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, what are you up to?

Josh Martin: Me and our old drummer John are playing with Upsidedown Cross and Kislug. We're doing a Kilslug show on June 23rd in Boston.

AoP: What made the band decide to stop Anal Cunt

JM: Seth just didn't want to do it anymore.

AoP: How did you get involved in AC in the first place?

JM: I used to live in New York City and AC used to stay with me whenever they played there. Seth and I became good friends and when he needed a new guitarist he asked me to do it. Of course I said yes.

AoP: How would you have described the AC sound?

JM: Total blur/shit/noise

AoP: How the fuck do you do that amp thing at the beginning of the songs (fucking ouch)?

JM: You mean the feedback? The amp AC has always used just does that naturally
when the volume is cranked.

AoP: What were the bands aims as they released each album?

JM: Since I was in the band, the aim was to be as offensive and stupid as
possible.

AoP: What sort of stick did the band get for the song titles and album covers that some would obviously be upset at?

JM: The only problem we ever had was when It Just Gets Worse came out, our UK distributor refused to carry it. I think it was banned in Germany too. There would be the occasional feminist cunt who would get offended at something
like Women:Nature's Punching Bag, but those types didn't usually go to our shows.

AoP: What are your favourite Anal Cunt tracks?

JM: I don't know, too many to list. My favorite album overall is I Like it When You Die.

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?

JM: I don't know, my favorite bands are Black Sabbath, Carnivore, Dead Kennedys, Slayer, Accused, Motorhead...

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

JM: Kiss-Dynasty, when I was 6 years old.

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

JM: Adolf Hitler - vocals
Josef Mengele - guitar
Josh Martin - guitar
Rudolf Hess - bass
Adolf Eichman - drums

AoP: What do you think of the position of music in general today?

JM: Same as it's always been. The mainstream sucks, most of the underground sucks but there's always a few good bands floating around.

AoP: Do you have some funny or unusual stories you can share with us about the band?

JM: Yes, but whenever someone asks me I can never think of anything.

AoP: and finally, what do you see in your future?

JM: I'm waiting for my parents to die so I can get my inheritance.
