Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to?

Killjoy: Thanks!! Lots of stuff going on lately, some major news coming up soon, we are currently writing songs for Harvest Ritual and will plan our tour for soon after the release, expect a horror filled show! We will begin recording Harvest Ritual this summer, hopefully it'll be out by Halloween 2002, keep checking the necrophagia website for the latest information

AoP: How would you describe the Necrophagia sound?

K: Pure undead horror and sickness, we are like the soundtrack to your worst nightmare we defy ordinary descriptions such as death metal or blackmetal. This is not an image but a way of life and death.

AoP: How did Necrophagia begin?

K: I started in 1982-1983 doing a punk band called Lepper's Revenge. Lyrically it was just gore and musically it was like the sex pistols meets DRI. By late 1983 Necrophagia was born We didnt have a bass player only myself on vocals Larry on guitar and The Voyuer on drums. the line up began to change with a new drummer (Joe) and a bass player (Bill) as more songs and practices occured until we recorded our first demo the line up stayed the same until we broke up

AoP: What caused the band to split in the mid-80s?

K: Extreme musical differences that occured right after the release of Season of the Dead.. I wanted to keep things heavy and dark and horror filled and they wanted to go more along the lines of Queensryche meets the scorpians. That is not what Necrophagia is about so we broke up.

AoP: You went through a difficult time soon after that with the death of Euronymous but then Phil Anselmo got in touch with you.  What exactly was it that inspired you to start Necrophagia again?

K: Indeed Euronymous was very important to me because he was truly dedicated to the truest form of black art. He was a good friend. He was killed by a total coward, it really took away a lot of inspiration for me. Anselmo wrote some amazing riffs, which definately got me inspired again. I give him all the credit for Necrophagia's rise from the crypt.

AoP: How are your other projects going?

K: We just recorded a new Wurdulak album and Ravenous will record later this year as well as Eibon and Enoch. Next year it will be Hellpig, but Necrophagia is definately my main priority.

AoP: What are your favourite songs from your other bands?
