Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to right now?

SCSI: Writing! We're gonna start recording again in about a month or so for a series of splits and the Repulsion tribute. 7 songs + one 15 second clip that will be used for a local radio show in town. I would say that it's
more varied than the older stuff. It's hard to really say what it sounds like. Both Colon Bowel and Maniac Killer have had a hand in writing the new stuff so it's of course gonna sound a little different. It's good stuff though!

AoP: How would you describe the Lord Gore sound?

SCSI: Lord Gore is a modern day approach at what death metal was originally. It's doomy and heavy and is more about creating a feeling than speed and technicality. I think it's very obvious who our influences are when you listen to the record. Autopsy and Impetigo are the obvious ones...

Maniac Killer: We just try to write really sick and twisted music. We definitely have more of a old school Death and Grind feel.

GURGE: 1 part gore, 1 part doom, 1 part death, mix with several gallons of shit, blood, piss, puke and cum and serve chilled.

AoP: How did the band begin?

SCSI: It started out as Gurge and Ryan from Engorged on guitar, Me on bass, Redrum on drums and Nekro on vocals. This was the line-up that recorded the Dark Lords Of The Cyst demo. It became obvious early on that
this line-up was not gonna last. Ryan had many other committments going on at the time with Engorged and other bands so it was difficult for him to show up weekly. After Ryan took off, I started playing guitar in the band.
We parted ways with Redrum about a month before we started recording The Autophagous Orgy. It was really rough since he's such a great guy. He always showed up for practice on time and never complained about anything. Ultimately, he just didn't really fit the band.

AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

SCSI: I think it was with Impaled, Engorged, Ember, and us back in 99. I really don't remember much of it, but I can't really remember having a bad show...

AoP: What sort of reaction have you been getting from the new album "Autophagous Orgy"?

SCSI: The reaction has been completely over-whelming. We've received many positive reviews of both the songs and the way that they sound which is a real compliment to us because we recorded the album ourselves in my
basement over about 6 months.

AoP: You are already working on new material.  What can expect from that in comparison to the last album?

GURGE: Its more themed around Fucked Sci-fi horror than straight up gore and misogyny, tho those are still prevalent. Its a lot more Cronenberg than Romero or Fulci I'd say. Two of the songs are themed around Edward Lee's Splatterspunk fiction.

SCSI: I would say that it's more varied than the older stuff. It's hard to really say what it sounds like. I'm sure it'll sound a little different though since we've added 2 new guys to the band since we were writing the stuff for the first album. It's good stuff though!

Maniac Killer: I think theres a bit more faster parts but overall I don't think our style has change all that much from whats on the record.

AoP: What are your favourite LordGore tracks?

SCSI: Zombie Molestation is by far the most fun of the songs to play live. The Autophagous is fun as well since it sorta sticks out from the rest of the songs because of the slow riffs at the beginning and the 'buzzing bee' parts at the end.

Maniac Killer: My favorites off the CD would be Krash Kourse and Zombie Molestation.

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?

SCSI: Ruptured In Purulence and Incarnated Solvent Abuse by Carcass and Sudden Death by Mr Bungle.

Maniac Killer: Hybrid Moments, Wolfsblood and Astro Zombies by the Misfits and Condemned System, Ripped to Shreds and Dead Shall Rise by Terrorizer.

GURGE: Demons by Rigor Mortis, Ridden With Disease by Autopsy, Pull The Plug by Death, Throuth Eyes Of Glass by Forbidden, Worlock by Skinny Puppy, and This Is Heresy by Christian Death.

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

SCSI: The very first one I can remember buying was Michael Jackson's Thriller - Gatefold vinyl. Still got it too! The first death metal albums I bought were Carcass - Necroticism and Napalm Death - Harmony Coruption.

GURGE: first LP was KISS:DESTROYER

Maniac Killer: Metallica ...And Justice for all.

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

SCSI: Mr Doctor, August, Bill Steer, Trevor Dunn, and Danny Carey.

Maniac Killer: Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle and ROBO the Misfits Earth A.D. line up. Them getting back together would be fucking awesome! To bad it will never happen though.

GURGE: Andy Larocque, Alex Skonkick, Derek Roddy, Mr. Dr., and Nivek Ogre.

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

SCSI: I think it's all pretty gay. The focus has shifted from writing good riffs and good songs to insanely technical riffing and greedy money hungry record labels. We aim to have fun. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sick of
everyone saying that something sucks because it's the cool thing to do. Nobody was panning all these records that were coming out 10 years ago but today it's like a fucking race to be the first to slam on a new release.

Maniac Killer: I think it sucks! Theres only a few bands out there doing anything half way decent. I really hate those cheesy slammin' pit riff death metal bands the scene seems to be infested with lately!

AoP: Do you have any funny or unusual stories you can share with us about the band?

SCSI: All the good shit happened when we played in Seattle our first time. We found the club early in the afternoon and were sitting outside in the van with all our gear in it. This dude comes limping out of club with a bum leg and offers to unload our gear for "a cheese burger or something". This guy weighed a buck forty at the most and looked like he'd fall over if the wind blew the wrong way. We turned down his offer, but we really should have made him set it all up. It would have taken him 2 hours to do it. Hell, I'd give him a cheese burger for doing that. You had to be there...

Maniac KillerL: Haha! Yeah that guy was fucked up!

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for LordGore?

SCSI: We've got some Splits coming out soon with Engorged, Ghoul, and Biolich from New York as well as a cover of Decomposed for the Repulsion tribute that's just insane. We're currently writing new stuff for the
second album and are looking into touring North America.

GURGE: Lots of broken heats and broken hymens, followed by broken vows, promises, broken parole and finally a broken off shiv.

Maniac Killer: Yeah, just writing more sick songs and playing more shows.

AoP: Thanks for the interview and good luck

SCSI: Thanks man, tell your friends!
