Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, what the band up to?

Fabio Bava: “Well, the band embodies the spirit of the Ancient Ones, playin’ death metal against Catholicism. We have no particular message, just keep yourselves free”.

AoP: How would you describe the Perfidy Biblical sound?

FB: “Sheer death metal man, no other way!!”.

AoP: How did the band begin?

FB: “Many years ago, when death metal wasn’t a trend… if it has ever been so… I played in many death metal bands, but when ‘em broke up, I founded Perfidy Biblical with Joe Caprino from Run With Wolves and Stormlord and Alessio Pacifici of Dr. Gore. Daniele Balzano left the band in the beginning of 2002”.

AoP: Can you remember your first gig and how did it go?

FB: “Oh yes! It was a festival, the Post Mortem. Pretty good!”.

AoP: Have you been in any bands other than Perfidy Biblical?

FB: “As I told ya before, yes. Different kinda stuff but always brutal death metal. They were Devitalized, Chthonian Nemeton, Fauces and Corpsefucking Art”.

AoP: What is your favourite Perfidy Biblical track?

FB: “Hard question, it’s like u ask me which son I prefer… Mmh, I guess “Flegias Monarch”. “Lewd Blood” and “Prayers Born Demonian” too, by now, they’re unreleased but we always play them live. They’ll be recorded for our next cd “Born”.

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs?

FB: “Gotcha! Too many! “Angel Of Death” by Slayer, “Flight Of Icarus” of Iron Maiden, “Revocate The Agitator” of Deicide”. But I listen different things such as Phil Collins, Sting, Enigma, Killing Joke and techno”.

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

FB: “Something heavy metal… Iron Maiden or Kiss.”.

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

FB: “Heck no! Shit! Impossible to say! If you really want some names, Bruce Dickinson on the vocals, Trey Azagthoth on the guitar, Steve Harris on bass and Pete Sandoval on the drums. Enjoy!”.

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

FB: “If you’re mainstream, you’re surely trying to sell your fucked up ass around! I am death metal and I really care about it! Music is art, something to approach. Culture keeps men alive and binded, what would we be without any form of expression? Think of it, if you don’t express yourself you feel nothing, then you’d be nothing! Man is God, no deity could be over you, someone invented religion just for safety, but what we’re lookin’ for is only inside us. I give you an example: if I read Necronomicon, oh! How it makes my day!”.

AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?

FB: “Nothing in particular”.

AoP: What do you see in the future of Perfidy Biblical?

FB: “I cannot foreseen, I expect only the best for the band, everyone and for me, myself and I. Blessed be the Ancient Ones!!”.
