Albums of Purgatory: First of all, How did you come up with the name 'the Killer Dwarfs'?
Russ Dwarf: Well we have a bit of a sense of humour about ourselves and thought it would be a help in getting us work @ the time It did!
AoP: What inspired you to form Killer Dwarfs back in 1982?
RD: Darrell and myself were both in bar bands @ the time that we weren't happy with and when we met up out on the road we hit it off right away we decided to take one guy from each of our respective bands and start the Dwarfs the rest is history
AoP: Who inspired your career the most?
RD: Who inspired me the most? Well I'd just have to say once you hear your first Rock tune your life changes forever and I've never looked back I love Showbizz! As far as an individual band or person I have a ton of influences. Alice Cooper was a big inspiration for me personally, as well as Zep, Rush, and of course ELVIS!
AoP: What is your proudest moment from the time of the Killer Dwarfs?
RD: Playing 3 SRO nights with Iron Maiden @ Hammersmith Odeon was pretty cool Wembley Arena a close second!
AoP: Which bands were the most enjoyable to work with?
RD: Maiden was pretty much the nicest band we ever worked with we get along well with everybody generally
AoP: What is your all time favorite metal song?
RD: Hum ? Victim of Changes - Priest!
AoP: What is your favorite Killer Dwarfs song?
RD: Well I love them all like children, but I guess Doesn't Matter is pretty cool. It basically says what we really feel about the whole gag.
AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?
RD: Phil Lynnott- Bass-Vox-, Neil Peart- Drums, Edward Van Halen-Guitars, Fredy Mercury-Vox!! Now there's a band!!!
AoP: What do you think of the position of metal today and the different styles?
RD: The more the merrier!! I love Live Music!!
AoP: Do you have any funny stories about your career that you could share with us?
RD: LMAO!! That's a good one Bad Ronbo eating shrimp in Lawton Oklahoma was pretty funny as well as putting "Burt Reynolds" on the front of our bus got a few good yuks we've had more comedy than ten men our motto is "you've gotta laugh or your gonna cry!"
AoP: And Finally, What are you guys up to now?
RD: Right now we are just getting ready to release our first "Live" album (Bullseye Records) recorded last August in Toronto it was our first show in over 6 years and kicked off our "Reunion of Scribes Tour" which will be taking us everywhere this year. There is also a DVD and video of that show soon to follow along with a 20th anniversary retrospective DVD later this year. Coming up will be the Reissue of our second album "Stand Tall."
