Albums of Purgatory interview the Haunted's Jonas Bjorler
Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to
right now?
Jonas Bjorler: we're relaxing, taking it very slow. We're gonna start rehearsing
soon, preparing for our world tour.
AoP: How would you describe the Haunted sound?
JB: Nowadays, we sound really brutal, I guess you can say we've found our own
sound.
AoP: How did you become involved with the Haunted?
JB: Well, Jensen asked if I wanted to join the band in mid -96, and since ATG
broke up, I accepted.
AoP: Are you involved in any other projects?
JB: Nope. Takes too much of my precious time.
AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?
JB: First gig with The Haunted was in Copenhagen with Memento Mori &
Witchery. There were not too many people, but all in all it was a cool gig.
AoP: What sort of reaction have you been getting so far
for the new material for One Kill Wonder?
JB: Everybody seems to think it's great, so that's all good.
AoP: What are your favourite the Haunted tracks?
JB: Hate Song, Hollow Ground
AoP: What are your favourite At the Gates tracks?
JB: Cold, The Swarm
AoP: What are your favourite all time songs or albums?
JB: "Hemispheres" with Rush, & "Reign in Blood" by
Slayer.
AoP: If you could choose to feature on a tribute album for
a band who would you choose and which song would you play?
JB: I wouldn't. I hate tribute records, 'cause you only end up destroying the
original.
AoP: What was the first record you bought?
JB: Accept "Restless & wild"
AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?
JB: The current The Haunted setting...
AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music
in general today?
JB: It's growing tremendously, especially here in Sweden with No1 on the charts
for bands like In Flames, Hammerfall.
AoP: Which other bands in the scene really stand out for
you at the moment?
JB: Entombed.
AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can
share with us?
JB: One cool thing was in Switzerland, when Kerry King let us play support (we
weren't on the bill) for Slayer. He's a really nice guy.
AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for the
Haunted?
JB: I see lots of gigs, drinks, & fun.
