Albums of Purgatory: Firstly, whats the band up to right now?

Johnny Kelly: We are currently writing and demoing new songs for the next cd.

AoP: How would you describe the Type O Negative sound?

JK: A mixture of just about everything except for rap from the past 35 years in music

AoP: How did you become drummer with the band in 93?

JK: I auditioned along with a few other drummers.

AoP: Which bands had you been in previous to Type O Negative?

JK: Nothing that ever went anywhere
AoP: Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?

JK: All things considered, I thought it went well.  I got through all of the songs.  I was definitely nervous about playing to a sold out club at home for my first show with the band.

AoP: You've toured with a huge variety of bands since you joined, from Queensryche to Pantera to NIN.  Which bands have you enjoyed touring with the most?

JK: Pantera and Motley Crue.  They treated us like family.

AoP: How did the band end up doing a cover for a Black Sabbath Tribute album and how did that feel?

JK: It was so long ago I have no recollection of how that happened. I was honored to be a part of it though.

AoP: What are your favourite Type O Negative tracks?

JK: World Coming Down, White Slavery, Love You To Death, Red Water, Pain & Gravity

AoP: What are your favourite all time songs and albums?

JK: Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
     Black Sabbath - Vol 4
     Black Crowes - Amorica
     Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
     Beatles - Sgt. Peppers
     KISS - Alive

AoP: What was the first record you bought?

JK: KISS - Love Gun

AoP: What would be your dream band line-up?

JK: Me, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant & John Paul Jones.  It's my dream right?

AoP: What do you think of the position of metal and music in general today?

JK: It needs an overhaul but there are some cool things coming out what's currently popular.

AoP: Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?

JK: I wish that I did

AoP: and finally, what do you see in the future for Type O Negative?

JK: I see my completed application for Public Assistance  next to my rejected application from Burger King .
