Albums of Purgatory interview Villa

Firstly, whats the band up to right now?
[Jeppe Christensen] Well reight now we're promoting our new album that was released 5/5 in denmark and that prety much takes all of our time

How would you describe the Villa sound?
[Jeppe Christensen] Well I'm not that good at describing our particular sound but I guess it's a kind of Kyuss meets incubus (science era) meets qotsa meets dolly parton kind of thing

How did you get involved with the band?
[Jeppe Christensen] I was playing a gig with an old band at a local festival and theese guys (Thomas & Carsten) approached me an ansked me if I wanted to play with them - And I did - funny story ehh?

Can you remember your first gig (how did it go)?
[Jeppe Christensen] Yeah our first gig was gigantic succes - It was a private party and we were playing our show on the roof of the building. And after about 30 min the police showed up and told us to shut up. The next morning Carsten woke up with his hand burried in a footmassage device (don't know the english name) filled with his own wommit. All in all a great concert.

Are you involved in any other projects and if so how do they compare to Villa?
[Jeppe Christensen] I'm playing keyboards and doing chorus' in a band called Raunchy and we are now finishing up on the tracks for our second album planing a release early fall 2003 - Compared to Villa Raunchy is a bit more metal \m/ actually a big bit more metal or mædl as we say in Denmark.
[Jeppe Christensen] Im also involved in a projekt with underground charismatic dj's DJ Jabba and DJ Lazy and were working on making a few tracks for a possible release next year

What are your favourite Villa tracks?
[Jeppe Christensen]
That must be "Marz" and "Flow"

What are your favourite all time songs?
[Jeppe Christensen] It's hard but when I think about it must be anything from the mr bungle "california" album It's so fucking brilliant - I hadn't listened to it for a while but put it on yesterday - and it reminded how genious that album is

What the first record you ever bought?
[Jeppe Christensen] I'm not telling you - but it wasn't mædl

Which album was it that got you into metal and can you explain why?
[Jeppe Christensen] I think its the same story as thousands of kids: Metallica "the black album" - I dont know why they just made a great album with really great music that attracted people from all kinds of genres

Whats the last album you purchased and what did you think of it?
[Jeppe Christensen] I bought an album called "escape" by ram-zet - its been out for a while I think but I just got around to buying it now. It's this kind of cirkusmædl and its very speciel and I don't listen to it every day - It's that kind of record that I love to hear 1 time and then I don't mind waiting for a week or 2 before putting it on again.

What would be your dream band line-up?
[Jeppe Christensen]

Vocal: Mike Patton
2. Vocal: Dave Mustaine
3. Vocal: Dolly Paton
3. Vocal: J Maynard

[Jeppe Christensen] And that would be it i guess what else do they need???

If you could do a cover for a tribute album to any band, which song of which band would you pick and why?
[Jeppe Christensen] As the worm turns by FNM - because it's a darn good song with lot's of energy and isn't to diffical technically

What do you think of the position of music in general today?
[Jeppe Christensen] hmm I don't know I guess it's cool that bands that uses real instruments on a regular basis surface again so we won't have to be burried in hellish machine shit

Which other bands stand out for you at the moment?
[Jeppe Christensen] Soilwork - their new album is just as cool as the previous one - Ram-Zet very very weid, very cool - Tomahawk "mit gas" They have Mike Patton in the band and the music is really cool .Also I'm looking forward to the new deftones album.....

Do you have any funny stories about the band you can share with us?
[Jeppe Christensen] I would have to refer to to the womit/massage/carsten story - I guess thats just about the funniest thing we've ever done.

and finally, what do you see in the future for Villa?
[Jeppe Christensen] I see a lot of hard work promoting this album and hopefully we will get a deal with a label and they will release it in the rest of the world.

Thanks again for the interview and good luck for the future.
[Jeppe Christensen] Thankyou for the interest in us and good luck with the site....
