This
album reminds me of debut-era System of a Down only more raw, more complex
and more jazz-inspired. I don't know whether I'm being narrow minded
in comparing them with such a mainstream band but that is exactly what
they remind me of. I've never heard anyone sound so much like Serj Tankjan.
All credit to Yakuza, though. I am in no way trying to put them down. With its switching vocals and unusual instruments like Saxophones and its raw hardcore style, this is in no way a copy of anyone, this is as original and bizarre as you're likely to find and it is all the better for it. -G- |
