Panasonic DMC FZ10k images first look
Red-tailed Hawk
This was a hawk I captured across the highway from where I work atop a telephone pole.
. The first image is at full zoom handheld uncropped only resized no adjustments. The second is cropped and the third was using the digital zoom at about 18x or so.
I was surprised it came out as I was very unsteady and standing next to a very busy highway and pointing my cam up at the telephone pole and also it was extremely windy. Another great testament to the possibilities of this cam not to mention the quality of this digital zoom. I never really was able to steady myself and get a good position and as soon as I did he flew off but was happy I was able to get a few shots off real quick.
Settings were full resolution, pattern exposure, ISO 50 and in P mode. Shutter was at 400 and 5.7 aperture.
original 12x untouched/ resized only saved at 90% compression in Paintshop Pro 8
cropped and filtered through neatimage and resized in PSP 8
18x digital zoom/uncropped and filtered through neatimage and resized in PSP 8
More pics from 3-15-04. The Chrysler Crossfire which is built in Germany is one awesome car for a Chrysler.
One other thing I did notice that I already love is the fact that this cam has a somewhat usable digital zoom. Once again I hope to put some of these pics up when I get to take more of them.
After having owned the FZ10 for almost 2 months now I have come to really like this cam just as I imagined I would. Several little annoyances have come up as with all my experiences so far with previous digicams. here are the 2 that bother me the most::
1. The burst mode is great although I wish it was like the Olympus E100's burst mode that keeps the view finder active instead of frozen The other side of the coin is with the SD cards and the FZ10's buffer it is very fast so I can get used to this I believe. But there still is the greater chance of missing a shot unlike the Olympus's that was so fast it was almost instant live action in the view finder during burst mode.
2. The lack of an eyecup was very frustrating. My Olympus E100rs has a nice very usable Eyecup on it that allowed for great accurate outdoors shooting. This will take some serious getting used to as I mentioned before I am going to be using this primarily outdoors in bright sun/beach settings.
3. The hand grip. Much smaller than my Olympus E100rs and can often take some readjusting of the hand in order to grasp it corrrectly. Should have been way bigger based on the overall lens and body configuration.
