MANA SABICH!

At the beginning, and I am talking about long- long time ago (even before McDonald reached Israel), our national food was known as the Falafel.

As time passed, the Falafel started to absorb engine oil- because of a saving effort to cut expenses. The quality dropped. Everyone knew that the cheap Falafel at "Betzalel" market, that cost 5 NIS ($1.25), would force you to spend the night, suffering from and astonished by your body's by-products, on the toilet seat. As for a solution, an underground substitute began growing. And as the days passed- it conquered the Falafel's chair!

The Sabich: simple, nutritious, cheap, easy to make and you can find it everywhere.

The Sabich originated in Iraq. It is a traditional home-breakfast until some guy figured that he could make money from that.
The origin of the name "Sabich" is controversial; some say that Sabich is a street-word for a "mess", other say that Sabich is the name of the guy that open the first Sabich stand - Abu Sabich and the others pointed out that the word Sabich originated from the word "Sabach" in Arabic which means: morning.
