Saghirah was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. From an early age she wanted to become a dancer, but she had to content herself with dancing around the house for many years. When Saghirah was 8 she did a year of gymnastics, but it was another 8 years still before her introduction into the world of dance.

At the age of 16 with her High School Ball looming, Saghirah joined her best friend in ballroom dancing classes. The ballroom lessons took hold and continued to fuel her dance passion for several years. She achieved several medals through the West Australian Dancing Masters' Association, including Grades 1 through 6 and Bronze Modern. In about 1994, Saghirah gained a place in Wrightson's Dance Studio Professional Teacher's Training course. Here she learnt the Australian ballroom standard technique and syllabus, how to break it down, how to dance both male and female roles and how to lead!

The next dance style to catch Saghirah's eye was Rockabilly. She convinced a fellow dancer at Wrightson's, Juan Rando, to join her in a Rockabilly class through the Summer Swing Studios. He soon became her dance partner and 3 months later they competed against 30 other couples in W.A. State Competition, achieving a 3rd and 4th place in "E" grade, a 5th place in "D" grade. Juan was then inspired to set up a studio/cafe of his own, now called Juan Rando Dance Academy which encompasses The Tango Salon and Salsa Casino Studios.

Formed under a different name in 1995, The Tango Salon was Perth's first studio dedicated to the promotion and instruction of Latin American styles of dance, including Argentine Tango, and was "Australia's first and only academic style Argentine Tango School". Saghirah quickly became a member of the studio's Latin Dance troupe. Since it's formation, the founder, Juan Rando, has travelled throughout the world developing the skills to dance and teach these styles of dance here in Australia.

At the same time Saghirah also took up Spanish Dance with Deanna Blacher's school Danza Viva. She completed two years of classical Spanish dance and a few months of open Flamenco classes. Saghirah sat examinations for, and achieved a "commended" and a "highly commended" in Preparatorio and Primer Curso grades respectively from the Spanish Dance Institute of which Deanna is the Founder and President.

Through joining a Dark Ages re-enactment group (The Grey Company) in 1993, Saghirah found her interest ignited in some aspects of Saracen history. This included historically accurate costuming and eventually Middle Eastern Dance. It was February 1994 when Saghirah finally joined a Middle Eastern Dance class through an Adult Education course at TAFE.

After a year of methodically sticking to beginners classes, her TAFE course teacher Nadira enthusiastically encouraged Saghirah to into the intermediate class at Belyssa's Academy of Danse Orientale. It was then only a few months until she was invited to join Belyssa's "The Flames of Araby" dance troupe. She stayed in Belyssa's School and The Flames of Araby until December 1996 when she moved to Sydney.

Early 1997 after her big move to Sydney and on Belyssa's advice, she tracked down Terezka Drnzik. Terezka enthusiastically welcomed Saghirah into her school. Saghirah soon became even more engrossed in the dance, and after arriving in Sydney, she did not pursue any of the other dance forms. Since early 1997 she worked solidly to become one of Terezka's foremost students as well as one of the founding members of "The Desert Blooms" Troupe. Saghirah would also act as Terezka's "2nd In Charge" whilst Terezka taught workshops interstate, and was a substitute teacher for some of her classes and troupe rehearsals.

At the end of September 2000 Saghirah made the move to live in Brisbane, Australia. She is now a member of Brisbane's largest professional dance troupe "The Oasis Dancers" and one of seven teachers for Brisbane's Academy of Middle Eastern Dance.
