nd she tells me she hates me.”

            “Hates?”

“Hates. But then I know she stares at me… her eyes burn holes through me when she does. And she shivers a lot too. And once she cried and I held her, and she just…”

            “Was this in the hospital?”

“Yes. She was emotionally unstable, as all women tend to be in sever situations such as this.”

“Most normal people tend to be that way in situations like this Hiiro.”

            “Why?”

“Human emotion. It’s compassion, sympathy, pain, and worry combined.”

“Emotions seem to only get humans into trouble. Maybe we are better off as lemmings after all.” Hiiro mussed.

“Maybe. But I wouldn’t like to have all of those feathers, would you?” Quatre joked, trying to lighten the mood.

            “Hnn.”

“Well, I don’t quite know what to tell you, except… be yourself.”

            “I don’t know who I am.”

“You are who you are. Do what you feel is right, and that is who you are.”

“Damn deep advice.” Hiiro shuddered. Quatre laughed. The doorbell rang and Hiiro and Quatre’s heads went up.

“I know I didn’t have any appointments today…” Quatre mussed. As Rashid walked into the room, he brought with him a familiar form.

“Master Quatre, Miss Kennington from next door.” Rashid introduced Serena. Quatre’s eyes studied the woman, trying to find why Hiiro had fallen for her from her appearance. Well, Hiiro didn’t have bad taste. She was very pretty. Quatre blushed thinking about it.

“Hello Miss Kennington.” Quatre smiled warmly.

“Hello Serena.” Hiiro nodded at her. She gasped.

            “Hiiro!”

“Quatre’s a good friend.” He smirked.

            “No…”

“Yes.” Hiiro smirked again. She growled.

“I knew I shouldn’t have come! I knew this would end poorly! Anyone who was a soldier could only have soldier friends, and of course Hiiro would be friends with them! Of course Quatre would be one of those foolish rebel pilots! Why does everything bad end up happening to me?”

“I would say you lead a pretty good life actually.” Hiiro told her innocently.

“Maybe before you showed up!” She snipped.

“She knows about the Gundam pilots?” Quatre whispered to Hiiro. He nodded.

“She over heard Sally and I speaking.”

“Well.” Quatre was at a slight loss. What could he possibly do? “Serena, why don’t you sit down?”

“No thank you Mr. Winner.” She airily told him. “I only wanted to know if you had heard of a Doctor James Owen Jay.”

“James Owen Jay? No, I’ve never heard the name. Why? Did you need to find him? Hiiro’s good with computers, I’m sure he could…”

“Who told you about James Owen Jay?” Hiiro growled suddenly. Serena’s eyes widened.

            “You know him?”

“Maybe. Who told you about him?”

“That is none of your concern!” She narrowed her eyes. Serena was not in the mood for arguing. All she had wanted to do was ask the only neighbor who was in town if he had known Odin Lowe, but it had to be Quatre, and Hiiro had to be over, and Hiiro had to know Jay, didn’t he?

            “It is my concern.”

            “Hiiro?” Quatre asked.

“James Owen Jay was equal to the creator of Sandrock.” Quatre’s eyes both widened and then narrowed.

            “Jay? The Jay?”

            “The Jay.” Hiiro confirmed.

“What do you two know that I don’t?” Serena was ready to burst at the seems. This was not fair! Both of them knew him, and she didn’t!

“Why do you need to know who the old coot is?” Hiiro asked again. Serena sighed frustrated and blew her bangs away from her eyes.

“Because I’m supposed to marry his son Odin Lowe Jr.!” She finally blurted out. Dead silence. *
