Bobby Gustafson is probably best known as being
the guitarist for Overkill from 1985-1989. He also played for
the bands; Cycle Sluts From Hell and Screw. I never had the
pleasure of meeting Bobby but I recently had the pleasure of
interviewing him. You can read it here!
1. Any person (living or dead) that
you would like to meet and why?
I'd like to meet Teenage Jesus. Ask him
where he's been and why haven't they wrote anything about you
in the bible at this age? Did you have any magic or powers at
this time and why didn't you use them?
2. Who are some of your favorite
musicians?
Toni Iommi. Angus Young. Steve Harris. Rob
Halford.
3. What's your guilty musical
pleasure?
Music is Music...You should listen to it all
and not feel guilty about any of it. I was so close minded
when I was younger and now I see how dumb that was
4. Who did you idolize as a child?
On guitar probably Toni Iommi, Jimmy Page,
and Jimi Hendrix. Eddie Van Halen, Priest, and Maiden.
5. Stranded on a deserted island, what
3 cds would you have with you?
Dirt. Paranoid and The Wall.
6. The difference between today's
music and the music of the 80's?
Today's is just a poor copy of what we invented. We took what
our elders did and turned it up a notch. That hasn't happened
since.
7. Favorite place to perform?
Would have liked to play the Garden in NY
one day. But Japan was a trip.
8. What makes a good song?
The main riff or hook. Something that flows
and is produced well. It all matters.
9. What are your hobbies?
Drinking beer, working out, and playing
guitar. In between all that I cook.
10. Favorite food to eat on the road?
I don't eat on the road.. food always sucks.
11. The first concert you ever went
to?
I saw Kiss in 79 at Madison Square Garden.
The original band and it was awesome even though Dynasty
wasn't the best album. My second show was The Ramones on
Staten Island.
12. Who's the best person you've met
on the road?
Lemmy. There is no one like him. No one
compares.
13. Any current projects?
Well I just got a new guitar endorsement
from Templar guitars from Arizona. So I want to use it on
something cool. Maybe an EP with 4 or 5 songs. I'm not gonna
give any names because its too early. But other than that I
did a solo on the last Satanika cd from Italy. Very cool you
should check it out.
