The Snake

The Image Itself

• Hidden in the decaying foliage at the right hand edge of the frame is a coiled snake.
• Rogue has referred to this section of the image as “the snake in the garden” which suggests a link to the Christian mythology of the expulsion from Eden.

Interpretations in terms of “Wishfire” and the “Angel Cycle”

• The most obvious link to the Wishfire album is to the song The Seraphs which apparently deals with Satan and his fall. As such the snake could be considered to be representative of the reasons for a fall (the fall of Adam and Eve) or the actions of a creature that has fallen.

• The snake could also be a symbol of temptation which links to the ideas discussed in the moth section and in the nebula section.
