Digimon Adventure Episode 8, "Evil Shows His Face":

Since their arrival in the Digital World the misfit team of Digidestined have been forced to handle the threat of normal, peace loving digimon infected with black gears. In the episode "Evil Shows His Face" we are finally able to see the source and master behind these evil devices, Devimon, demon lord of the underworld. Devimon makes his first appearance before the long time rivals Leomon and Ogremon. Leomon is a leader and protector of File Island and the growing threat of the black gears has led him to Infinity Mountain. Ogremon feeling his only purpose is to fight and eventually destroy Leomon confronts the data digimon on the slope of Infinity Mountain. There the two battle mindlessly until they are interrupted by a sinister voice, which calls for their allegiance. Both Leomon and Ogremon are offended by this order and demand that the owner of the voice step forward. Devimon appears before the two and explains that he wants their service to help him destroy the Digidestined. Leomon is in awe by the announcement and ask about the Digidestined, who were prophesied to come and help save the Digital World. Devimon explains to Leomon that the Chosen Children had already arrived in the Digital World and were now climbing on the mountain. Ogremon is intrigued by Devimon and offers his service, stating that the Fallen Angel did not need Leomon, however, Leomon is enraged and senselessly attacks Devimon for his threats against the Digidestined. Devimon easily avoids Leomon's attack, and then states "Please Leomon, I am not request your obedience I am demanding it." To prove his point Devimon uses his Touch of Evil attack to hypnotize Leomon, turning him into a mindless zombie. With all the pieces in place Devimon is now ready to test the strengths of his enemies. He sends Leomon and Ogremon to attack the Children while they were still on the mountain. Leomon appears in front of the Digidestined and they are instantly afraid, but their digimon partners explain that Leomon is a wise and just digimon who would never hurt anyone. The children are still weary and their suspicions are soon proven just as Leomon sends his "Fist of the Beast King" attack at the group. The Digidestined and digimon try to run away, but Ogremon appears behind them, blocking their way. With no other choice all the digimon, except for Takure's partner Patamon, digivolve and try to take the two attackers on. The battle between the Digidestined and Devimon's flunkies does not last long as an avalanche sends huge boulders crashing down to where the battle was taking place, forcing both the Digidestined and Leomon and Ogremon to run. After the dust clears the Digidestined find their opponents gone. While leaving the area Taichi, the leader of the Digidestined, comments on how it seemed more like the rocks had been blasted off. The Digidestined leave Infinity Mountain while Devimon watches. Deivmon takes into consideration everything he learned from the short brawl, stating that the Digidestined were more powerful then he had original thought and also musing over why Patamon had yet to digivolve.

Between the climb and the battle with Leomon and Ogremon the Digidestined's partners are left worn and weak. The group of fourteen find themselves wandering around a forest, searching for food and shelter for the night. Their search soon proves fruitful as the digimon begin to smell food. Thinking more with their stomachs then their brains the Digidestined and their partners rush to the source of the scent, where they find a large hotel in the middle of the tangled woods. They go inside only to find the place deserted. While in the lobby Patamon catches sight of a painting on the wall. The picture was of a beautiful angel bathed in heavenly light. Takure explains to Patamon that the picture is that of an angel, and that an angel was a guardian who watches over you. Interest in the painting soon fades as the group's mind returns to food and they go in search for the kitchen, however, Patamon remains behind for a moment still intrigued by the painting, but he soon leaves to be with his friends. The Digidestined and Digimon go about their night finding a feast in the dinning room, which they devour quickly before moving on to hot baths. Eventually the children and their partners turn in for the night leaving the hotel dark and still.

While the children rested the illusion began to end. Devimon moved in the stillness and came out of the painting in the lobby. Leomon and Ogremon were also there as the hotel was nothing but an illusion created by Devimon. The three head up stairs, ready to take their wraith out on the sleeping children, however, noise and light stop them. Taichi, along with his partner Agumon, walk lazily to the bathroom. While Agumon is using the facilities Ogremon hid in the stall next to him, listening in on the human and digimon's conversation. The two partners began discussing the events of that day and then Agumon brought up Ogremon, stating that he was ugly. This insult enrages Ogremon and he brakes out of the stall in a frenzy, ready to attack Agumon and Taichi. The two flee from Ogremon only to find Leomon in the hall. Their cries wake up the other children and digimon and soon all of them were awake and alert. Agumon tried to fight against the intruders, but his strength was gone and he couldn't digivolve. Taichi is confused as it had appeared that Agumon had plenty to eat and should have had been restored to his full strength. Devimon then appears and explains that everything, the food, the bath, and even the hotel itself was nothing but an illusion set up to lure them there. The hotel then burst into tiny pieces of data, leaving only a ruined house of rubble. Devimon explains that since the Digidestined were strongest when together he will scatter them so that they can never reach their full strength. The beds the Digidestined were sleeping in begin to float and the soar, sending the children along with their partner into the sky. Things grow worse as File Island itself begins to crack and brake apart. The beds go crazy before each bed begins to head in a different direction, each one bound for a different piece of the broken island. Taichi is still left on the ground with a possessed Leomon in front of him. Leomon tried to attack him, however, Taichi's digivice falls in front of the data digimon. Suddenly wild rays of light begin to shoot from the device, blinding Leomon at first and then washing off Devimon's "Touch of Evil Attack". Now free from Devimon's control, Leomon tries to defend the Digidestined, telling Taichi and Agumon to leave quickly. Taichi and Agumon hitch a ride on a flying bed and are too sent to one of the piece of File Island. This small set back does not seem to deter Devimon, and he simply commands black gears to attack Leomon. The gears embed themselves into Leomon turning him evil once again. Now that the Digidestined are separated Devimon's plans are put into action, and the extent of his evil slowly begins to shine through.

He then explains that he will see to it that they do not locate their other companions by hinder Joe Kido and Sora Takenouchi on the Bakemon Holiday. He is not seen further in this episode, however, black gears do serve to strengthen Bakemon durning his battle against Ikkakumon and Birdramon.

There is no hostility in this episode, but it does leave an opening for the next episode and Devimon's grand design.

Digimon Adventure Epsiode 13, Legend of The DigiDestined:

Takure and Patamon's peaceful visit to Primary Village is soon shatter as Leomon, under the influence of the Black Gears, attacks the village and targets the youngest of the Digidestined and his rookie partner. Takure and Patamon flee in fear of the enslaved Leomon but are soon cornered. Just as it seems that it is the end for Takure and Patamon, salvation comes in the form of Takure's older brother, Yamato Ishida and his powerful partner, Garurumon. Garurumon targets Leomon while Yamato rushes to Takure's side. The impeding battle between Leomon and Garurumon is put on hold as Ogremon appears carrying a captive baby Poyomon. However, Ogremon's efforts prove useless as Taichi Yagami sneaks up and grabs the Fresh Digimon from Ogremon's hold. Taichi's partner, Greymon, soon appears and targets Ogremon. Ogremon is easily over powered leaving only Leomon to deal with both Garurumon and Greymon. Devimon obviously is aware of his underling's dilemma and sends more Black Gears to embed themselves inside Leomon. The Black Gears prove to be an awesome source of power as Leomon grows enormous and threatening. The situation now seems hopeless for both Garurumon and Greymon who are being pummeled by the powerful Leomon, however, Koushiro Izumi, along with Mimi Tachikawa, appear with their digimon partners and explain to Taichi the significance of their DigiVices. Taichi, seeing no other way, decides to confront Leomon with only his Digivice as defense. Taichi's courage is soon rewarded as his DigiVice sends a large amount of energy through Leomon, however, it is not until Yamato joins Taichi that the Black Gears are driven from the lion, freeing him from Devimon's control.

Now that Leomon is free from Devimon's control he precedes to tell the Chosen Children The legend of The Digidestined. The legend explains that children from another world would come to the Digital World possessing the power to help digimon digivolve, which is normally a very long and difficult procedure, and that these children would help destroy the evil which threatens the Digital World. After hearing this legend Koushiro expresses his theory that once Devimon is destroyed the Digidestined would be allowed to return home. Despite their fear, the Digidestined decided to confront Devimon. They head up Infinity Mountain with Leomon leading the way. All the while Devimon has been watching the Chosen Children and his freed slave. His outrage for the children's previous victories against his underlings has slowly grown until he takes this anger out on Ogremon, who still remains loyal to him. Devimon uses his dark powers to absorb Ogremon. The demon then calls upon the Black Gears to increase his power and stature. Soon his strength is magnificent and he grows to an enormous shape, exploding out of his palace on top of Infinity Mountain

The Digidestined along with Leomon at last arrive at the top of Infinity Mountain and are soon joined by Joe and Sora and their partner's Ikkakumon and Birdramon. It is not long before all the other digimon, except Patamon, digivolve into their Champion forms. With this new strength the champion digimon attack Devimon but are thrown aside like ragdolls. Leomon tries to defend the Digidestined, however Ogremon appears from within Devimon and throws the lion digimon aside and he is not seen again during this battle. Once it is obvious that the champion digimon are no match for him Devimon targets Takure. Prophecies say that it is the youngest of the Digidestined that will have the strength to defeat the powers of the Demon Underworld, and so Devimon is persuaded that in order to ensure his own survival he must first destroy the youngest Digidestined and his partner. As Devimon approaches Takure the champion digimon and Digidestined try to get to him but are unable to. Devimon reaches for the young Digidestined, however, Patamon, his partner, steps in the way and tries to beat back the demon with his weak Boom Bubble attack. Devimon is completely unaffected by the rookie digimon's attack and so reaches and grabs the little digimon instead.

Once Patamon is within Devimon's grasp Takure cries out for his partner, unlocking the power of his Digivice. Light beams from Takure's digivice and out of Devimon's hand. It is not long before the demon is forced to release his captive due to the intensity of the light. Once free Patamon is consumed by the light and digivolves into Angemon. Devimon, thought slightly unnerved by the angel's appearance, is still remaining calm. He laughs at the celestial and attacks. Angemon, knowing that alone he does not have the strength to defeat the demon, summons the power of all the Digidestined's digivices, giving him the strength to use his ultimate attack Hand of Fate. The beam of light is so terrible that it pierces through Devimon causing him to scream in horror and pain.

Angemon's attack was successful as Devimon was at last defeated. The demon's body begins to break up, however, Angemon's victory was not without a price. The power of the attack fully drained the angel and he too was being to reconfigured. Devimon mocks the angel as they are both being reconfigured, explaining to him that this was no victory. "You think you have one, but you haven't. Evil is everywhere." At last Devimon dies, however, his prediction remains to torment the world forever. This powerful demon knew that his defeat would not be the end but only the begin for evil.

Digimon Zero Two Episode 19, An Old Enemy Returns:

In an attempt to defeat the Digidestined, the Digimon Kaiser (Digimon Emperor) creates his own digimon Kimeramon using the strongest attributes of various other digimon. However, even with the combined abilities of other digimon Kimeramon is still unable to function on a conscious level. The Digimon Kaiser goes in search of an energy source sufficient enough to bring Kimeramon to his full power. It seems that his search comes to an end as the sensors on his floating base detect a powerful energy source coming from an abyss in the ocean. Lost in his lust for power, the Digimon Kaiser blindly devises a plan to acquire this new energy, however, as he considers his options a dark and cruel voice enters his mind warning him of his down fall. Whether or not this voice truly belongs to Devimon is never proven, however, the voice does match the fallen demon's. In his arrogance the Digimon Kaiser ignores the voice's omen and continues with his plan to obtain the energy coming from the abyss.

Meanwhile, Takeru (TK) Takaishi and Iori (Cody) Hida, along with their digimon partners Patamon and Armadillomon, manage to infiltrate the Digimon Kaiser's base. Takeru explains that he senses an evil presence coming from the abyss and his partner Patamon concurs with his feeling. Iroi and Armidillomon are unable to sense this presence and so are not as weary as their companions.

The Digimon Kaiser, now knowing where to focus his efforts, sends three Mekanorimon into the abyss to acquire the dark energy, however, the machine Digimon fail to bring back the power. In an act of frustration the Digimon Kaiser, disregarding the pleas of his partner Wormmon, mans a Mekanorimon and goes into the abyss himself. Once down in the water the Digimon Kaiser comes face to face with the source of the dark energy, Devimon. Again the Digimon Kaiser, driven by arrogance, acts foolishly. Devimon now speaks into the Digimon Kaiser's mind warning him of his own demise, however, the boy ignores the warning and proceeds to "vacuum" up Devimon's power.

Takeru watches the whole event. The pain of recalling Devimon's defeat at the cost of Angemon's reconfiguration drives the Child of Hope to go in search of the Digimon Kaiser, telling his companion Iroi that he has "Some unfinished business".

The Digimon Kaiser secedes in getting what he wants from Devimon and the base leaves the abyss and the memory of the demon behind. With the power of Devimon Kimeramon becomes unstoppable.

It seems that the words Devimon spoke upon his destruction were as true as ever. Evil is everywhere.
