02 #43 The Demon Army's Invasion:

After the World Tour or Cross-continental battles, the chosen children return home. The previous day, Takeru's mother was confronted by a strange man who makes references to the events of 4 years ago. Ms. Takaishi mentions this to her son, and without thinking Takeru asks her if the man was "human."

Ken who is also home from fighting off Digimon that appeared in Mexico, catches a glimpse of something shadowy as it sails by his window.
That night, Ken dreams of past events that he has blocked out, or are forgotten to him. The images are of his time spent with Ryo in the digital world. They are in a desert with a large Digimon lying defeated before them, sand ripping through the air. Several black objects are released from the defeated digimon and Ken pushes Ryo out of the way as one heads for him and is hit instead. The black seed-like object buries itself in his neck, just below his skull.*
Ken awakens and questions Wormon about what happened before he was the Digimon Kaizer.

The next day, the chosen hear on the news that several mothers have reported their children missing.

Meanwhile, in Tokyo bay (assumedly) the sea churns as a large black shape rises from the ocean and confronts an ocean liner where a couple is being married. It is MarineDevimon and like the creature of the black lagoon, he terrorizes the young man and woman. Iori and Takeru, who are nearby, order their Digimon to attack MarineDevimon. Armadillomon turns into his armor form of Submarimon and Patamon into his adult form of Angemon. Though the two combine their efforts, they are not able to stop the giant MarineDevimon. Ikkakumon even comes to help and evolves to Zudomon.

The rest of this episode is crowned with the appearences of LadyDevimon, Demon and Skullsatamon, which i'll omit for right now.

*(Desert landscape is very prominent in the early portions of Tag Tamers, which these events occur, however the scene above actually took place in the town square. It seems the creators of 02 just used scenery they had glimpsed from the beginning section of Tag Tamers when this scene was made. The defeated Digimon is Millieniumon.)

02 #44 The mortal combat of Dark Digimon:

All hell is breaking loose as Ken has been abducted by Owikawa and his cohorts, with LadyDevimon in hot pursuit for the dark seed that Ken carries with him. Inside the van Ken was taken away in, he finds a score of children, the same ones that were reported missing by their parents. The children went willingly with Owikawa because they had heard of the genius that Ken had been under the dark seeds influence; with a prowess in sports and intellect that Osamu had shadowed his brother with, and thus making him want to be more like him.* The conversation between Ken and Owikawa is interrupted when Mummymon has to swerve the van to avoid bats sent by LadyDevimon, who can fly faster than their humanoid mistress. The cause for alarm is that these bats behave similer to the night raider bats employed by Vamdemon, who seem to be able to cause harm and erase objects as they touch them.

As Owikawa taunts Ken with the insinuation that his brothers death may not have been an accident, Angemon and Anklyomon evolve to clash with MarineDevimon, who threatens a hospital. Children inside the hospital cower but look on in awe as the giant statue-like Digimon sends bolts of whirling energy at the shadowy form of MarineDevimon. MarineDevimon attacks using his long fore claws (squids naturally have a pair of retrieving tentacles which can shoot out at high speeds to grasp prey) and his ink, which seems acidic as well.

As the last surviving member of Demon's Demon Army, MarineDevimon battles on with the fate of the hospital nearby resting on the winner of the fight. Shakkoumon is forced to destroy MarineDevimon to save the hapless children inside the hospital.
