V-Tamer
Chapters 41-43
V-Tamer was a comic featured in the V-Jump Digimon publication in Japan. It's story consisted of the adventures of an Alternate Universe Taichi Yagami and his partner Zeromaru, the VeeDramon. While the artist even had his own style and mechanisms when drawing the characters, the story was little more than: Taichi and Zeromaru wander around seeking tags that will unlock the fortress of Demon, the digital world's nemesis. Along the way they'd meet supporting characters and finally near the end come to a challenge in the form of a enemy monster which they would usually vanquish with little to no trouble. These events were usually dotted with the ravaging of Neo Saiba, a villainous human tamer, and his stock of henchman digimon. While the story does have its high points, such as the battle between an army of viral/demon digimon and the forces of Lord HolyAngemon and Leo the Leomon, its simple plot caused it to have to print in black and white shortly after its first part, or disk. (Ten chapters or so.)
Concerning our lovable friend NeoDevimon here, he was introduced in V-Tamer and is a product of some of the various characters it spawned. From what I have heard not much is disclosed about who he is or where his kind comes from, this author hasn't seen any info regarding this, though it may exist in the untranslated pages of the comic. What we do know is that NeoDevimon is presented as a creepy henchman digimon that seems to report (from what I can see) directly to Neo Saiba. Perhaps he was created by Neo, its unknown. Though since he must get the neo part some somewhere, since hes not an X digimon in anyway, which could merit such a title. NeoDevimon appears once in issue 41 where he is glimpsed for one panel only as he and a few other of his kind harrass Taichi's human friends.
He appears again in chapter 42 where hes given a more thorough introduction; here a team of NeoDevimon come to attack the sleeping Zeromaru as he recuperates in a sort of stasis chamber to repair damage from a previous fight. They are able to keep the wounded Omegamon at bay while they seek to claw Zero open in his sleep. The stasis tube is protected by a force field of some sort, however, and are unable to carry out the slaughter that would otherwise ensue. The other two NeoDevimon go to check on the rest of Taichi's friends as Zeromaru awakes and pummels one of them with his fist. (Zero basically hits things and he dies, hes that strong, doesn't take much effort.) We can see where this goes from here, uber blue dragon beats up evil devil thingies, yadda yadda, everyones happy. Though one NeoDevimon remains from the trio to return and report to Saiba and is unheard of for the rest of the story. (Which is kinda lucky, since in the next scene Callismon is introduced, a giant wolf/bear type digimon that shows off to Saiba by crushing a Devimon and Ogremon both with his bare claws, at once! Squish and a gout of blood. These pages would have had to be censored if they were ever brought over, of course. But since not much interest was taken in the comic back then, we are spared that debauchery.
