Legend has it that the raven was once as white as snow. He was a praised animal, favored by the gods because of his wisdom and valor. However, the raven was not content at being subject to unworthy masters, and so he betrayed the gods by abandoning his post, which was to watch all of the deeds that transpired in the world, so that the gods might punish the wicked and bless the righteous. The raven became idle and rebellious, and so to punish the once beautiful white bird the sun god, Apollo, placed a curse upon him. Burning him in the scolding rays of the light until the raven was covered in ashes, and so remained forever black as night. Now the raven is a symbol of mystery, wisdom, depth, and darkness.
I am a raven once praised for my acceptance of forced idles and now black due to my rejection of my parent culture. I fly alone in the night and never have I felt more free.

Often revered but never understood. Dull in the light but magnificent in the darkness. No one knows the reason for my existence, and nothing is more mysterious than my darkside. Bound to a life that more oft than not feels empty and pointless. Surrounded by small forms of life and light, I find my solice only in solitude, and comfort among the shadows. Forever to watch and be watched from afar.
I am the moon, riding the infinite rails of the night, feeling more at place in emptiness than I ever have.
