Cookie Kick-Off

This is my first year in Girl Scouts, so I was very excited to be able to participate in the cookie sales, going on during January and February in my council and surrounding councils. Our council held a cookie kick-off the first day that Girl Scouts were allowed to sell cookies. It took place at the mall, and while we were not allowed to sell cookies in the mall, we had lots of games for Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts alike.

I showed up early for the kick-off, and one of the women running the booth I came across first was so glad to see me that she let me volunteer. I stayed there for the entire event (two hours) helping to run a game consisting of a giant paper-mache half-fish with an open mouth, 3 plastic golf clubs, and several taped-up, empty cookie boxes. The object of the game was to knock the boxes into the half-fish's mouth with one of the golf clubs. My job consisted of running back and forth to retrieve boxes gone astray and hand out prizes when someone won.

The only problems arose when we ran out of prizes. Several girls didn't get prizes, but, just as the event was ending and everyone had already gone home, a large Rubbermaid tub full of prizes arrived at our booth!

Other than the aforementioned problem, the kick-off (at least my part of it) went off without a hitch! I'm glad that I could help, even if it was a lot of work.
