work on my chest piece. i am planning on doing a carnivalesque piece featuring a 'freakshow' with a tattooed woman...basically going with the idea that we are doing this for ourselves and not for anyone else. have visualized a lot of the aspects but not the nitty-gritty details...will fill you in later.
i love the cutesy-macabre style of japanese artist junko mizuno, so i had two of her pieces tattooed on my wrists! they were done by the excellent binky of body art world in point pleasant, nj. binky is an extremely cool guy, and the colors came out really bright and wonderful! they seem to be rocking some sort of a witchy theme (the one's 'cooking', and the other one's eating). i've included pictures of the original drawings so you can compare and contrast. enjoy!
my left half-sleeve...almost complete, only need to fill in the underside of my arm with vines. it's taken over 20 hours of work and 7 sessions so far. i'm very into the roaring 20s flapper culture and classic horror, so i kind of incorporated the two elements together. done by the fabulous mr. jeff gibbs of adrenalin (brick, nj).
this was my first tattoo. it was a drawing i had done in high school, and i figured "if ya have to sin, be original", so i got this drawing on my left shoulderblade.
i got this tattoo in august of 2003. i really admire the victorian independent comic art of dame darcy, so i got a sketch she drew tattooed on the inside of my right calf. the original picture...
my right half-sleeve, now completed! my medusa and crying heart were done by jeff gibbs of adrenaline, my vampire woman by baba of vintage tattoo in los angeles, california (at a convention), and the rest of the half-sleeve was inked by mike schweigert of tradewinds tattoo. my medusa and siren encapsulate my fascination with greek mythology, and symbolize beauty within ugliness. my vampire girl is a revamping of a sailor jerry design, combining my love of traditional tattoos with my obsession with horror. my snake woman symbolizes my life, from my birth (when i didn't have any substance-"meat on my bones") until my death.
i got this tat spur-of-the-moment at the philly tattoo arts con! i met debbie lenz, a great artist from ohio, and she tattooed this little beauty on me...we call her 'irma'. once again combining my love of the macabre and flapper fashion, we created a cool smaller design. debbie is so nice...we hit it off so well! if you live in ohio you'll have to check her out...the listing for her shop is on the artist page. as well, i met many other great, extremely nice female tattooists: roxy-debbie's daughter, patty kelley of avalon tattoo in ca, and sandi calistro of chameleon 212 in colorado. all excellent artists and totally cool people!
cute daggers (batwing and pirate) put on my feet by the wonderful mike schweigert of tradewinds tattoo in toms river, nj.
confucius's "ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star", and nietzsche's "do not allow yourselves to be deceived: great minds are skeptical". two quotes by two very different people that express the way i feel about life. done by mike schweigert.
