Past
Chichiri-sama probably has the most tragic past of all the Suzuku seishi but it isn't really delt with until the 2nd OVA series.
Up until he was 18 he lived happily in his home village with his family (I assume...), his best friend Hikou (who I constantly get confused with Houki, Hotohri's wife) and his fiancee. They were all happy, well except for Hikou. He was jelous of Houjun and *Kouran's realtionship so he tried to take her away kinda. The fiancee then felt disgrace because she was touched/kissed by another man and broke off her engagement to Houjun (I think they were supposed to be getting married reeeeeeally soon after that) and needless to say Houjun was pissed.
He confronted Hikou to fight him (on a river bed of all places...) and while they were fighting it began to rain. Since the ground was all slippy and muddy, Hikou slipped and fell into the river.
Houjun forgot about fighting and how much he hated his best friend at that point, and grabbed his arm so Hikou didn't wash away. He held on for a while but then a log came out of the water and smashed into his face (that's where the scar came from) and Houjun let go of Hikou's hand in pain.
Needless to say, Hikou died. The river flooded and killed everyone in the village, including the ex-fiancee, leaving Houjun the only survivor.
I don't know allll the details of what happens between then and meeting his Miko since I don't have a translation of his novel yet *sobs* but I do know that that's when he meets Taiitsukun and Nyan-Nyan, travels with the Nyan-Nyan, tries to kill himself a bunch of times and is told off by Taiitsukun and it's revealed that he is a Suzuku seishi. Yea Chiri-sama! So that' a kinda detailed history on Chichiri for ya.
Oh yea! and Hikou comes back to haunt him in the 5th eppisode of the 2nd OVA. That eppisode shatters my heart...I cry everytime I watch it :(
Other Stuff
*Chichiri is like one of the few seishi who don't fall in love with Miaka
*he goes S.D. constantly
*he where's a mask to cover his scar because he feels others will be uncomfortable with it
*he ALWAYS tacks on 'No Da' to every sentence unless he's really serious or pissed off
*his voice is usually in a pretty hight octave but dropps @ the same time he drops the 'no da'
*he's in a mess of a tangle with Kouji and Tomo for my second fave character
*he puts up with Tasuki for atleast two more years than he has to since they wonder together after the series
*he's only one of two seishi still alive at the end of the series (Tamahome/Taka doesn't count)
*he manages to be adorable with the mask and absolutley beautiful without it, scar or no scar
