"Hi, Ike." We were quiet, and I could see the worry in his eyes.
"Don't worry Tay. He'll be fine."
"Lets hope so." I placed my large hand over Tay's reasuring him. He gave off a weak smile. Hearing the door creak open, I asumed it was Zac.
"Hello all." He cooed. Ikindly waved, as well as Taylor. "Dads doin fine. I just saw him."
"This is really sucky guys. We may lose dad like we did mom. Then we'll have to take out the photo album and remance." I sighed.
Zac smiled. "Man, you guys need to lighten up. We all know dad isn't going to die. It's just impossible."
"Anything is possible." Taylor warned. Zac let out a long and heavy sigh.
"Hey, um I think I'm going to visit dad. Anyone want to join?"
"Nah," Taylor said in monotone.
"I just saw him, but tell dad I said hi again." Zac smiled.
"Alright, bye guys." Leaving my brothers to mope around in the kitchen I hopped into my vehicle.
Pulling up into the parking lot of the big hospital. I locked my car and entered the gliding doors, I asked the lady atthe front desk which room my father was in.
"Room 415, take the elevator to the fourth floor take a right go down two doors and there is wher you'll find him." She flirted. She looked like she was about in her early 20's. Too bad I'm married. I smiled sweetly winking at her, watching her cheeks flush.
I made my way up to my dads room somehow. Knocking softly on the door, I enterd to see my dad laying there helplessly. "Hey dad." I smiled.
"Hello." His smile wrinkly but was still full of life.
"How ya doin old man?" I joked.
His smile faded, "Isaac," His voice full of worry. "they say my condition is worsing." My eyes grew wide.
"Dad," I stuttered. " don't listen to them. What do they know? Hell, half the time they're wrong." His eyes closed, and I seriously knew his time was ending. "I I I should go call Taylor and Zac." I tried to not show the quiver in my voice.
"No." he whispered. I leaned over my fathers bed, takling his hand in mine.
"Dad, you can't. Not today." Tears welled my eyes. "Its your day! It's fathers day! You can't leave us yet!" My lips were soon placed on his forehead. "Dad, I love you." His grip on my hand was growing weaker. "God, please dad. No, you can't" I cried out. "I love you too much." The life line went from a steady heart rate, to a flat line. The tears pooled from my eyes, and I went for help.
We all decided to meet at my house this year. All my nieces and nephews scattered about, while me and my brothers sat remancing with photos. "Didn't we do this on mothers day?" questioned Taylor.
"Yeah, we did" I spoke. It puzzled me how my brothers weren't bothered y the fact that both our parents aren't here anymore, and they act like its nothing. Maybe its because I witnessed my father die.
"Hey whats wrong?" Julie asked. Julie's my wife if you're all wondering.
"Oh, nothing." I smiled at her. My little baby girl, who is 8 right now came running to me.
"Daddy! Daddy!" SHe jumped on my lap. "Look what I made for you!" She thrust the home made card into my face. I kissed the top of her head.
"Kala, its beautiful." She gigled. "Thank you."
"Your welcome daddy!" she squealed. "Happy daddy's day!!" She scuried off my lap to find the other childeren.
"We should really be leaving Ike." Tay said.
"Yeah, we should." Zac said picking up his newest member of the family. It took half an hour to finally get everyone out of the house. I stood outside on my back proch taking in the beauty of the stars. There was still a couple more hours of fathers day left. I wish my dad could be here. I felt alone, and I needed someone with me. I sucked in a deep breath, "Hey, dad." I smiled waiting for his reply. "How ya doing up there? Good I hope." This is really foolish of me, really it is. "I just wanted to say this dad, then I have to go. You've been the best father to me. Been there when I needed you. Helped me with my problems. And helped me through moms death. You're the best father a son could ever have, and I wanted to say this dad...
