Campaign News

Hey gang welcome to the news section. Here you will find the latest information on the campaign and our efforts to save The American Embassy. So far the response has been tremendous and I anxiously await news every day to report back to you all. So without further ado, here is the latest!

Latest News!!!

05 July 2002

If you guys haven't already heard Arija Bareikis (Emma Brody) will be appearing in episode 1 of a show called "Without a Trace" which will premiere on the WB network this fall. In addition, David Cubitt (Doug Roach) will be appearing in his own series on CBS this fall. Not sure of the title of the show just yet but that is the latest buzz for some of the actors.

As for the elusive episodes 5 & 6, they are as ever nowhere to be found. I am keeping my eyes and ears peeled for any rumblings from Jersey or FOX regarding the release of the eps.

Hey gang,

We knew that the day of reckoning would come and I have been dreading the news I have to tell you all. I have heard the final word from John Landgraf and it is official... The American Embassy is gone. There will be no AE on Lifetime or FX, both have chosen to turn down the show. Therefore, there will be no new episodes and no show next year.

I can't really think of what I am personally feeling other than sadness. I know we all worked hard and fought for a show we knew was great. I guess the networks just don't know what makes a good show anymore. I have officially boycotted FOX and choosen not to watch anything on their main flagship station.

As for what will happen to the last two episodes, I don't know. My guess would be that the only way to get the shows aired or released would be to request FOX to give them to the fans. Just so everyone does know though, Jersey Films does not own the rights to AE and cannot distribute the tapes, so the only way for the public to get them would be through FOX.

If you have questions or would like to continue posting at this forum I would love to keep in contact with all of you. I will still be updating my site and putting all of the things that we love about AE up on the site.

Please don't hesitate to e-mail me if you have questions or just want to vent. Thanks everyone for your fight, especially Michelle, Anne Marie, Bev, Rory, Leanne, buccarroo, and other webmasters and all the campaigners who have worked so hard to save our show. Again it is with the utmost respect and regret that I have to deliver this news.

Thanks guys, and I hope we keep in touch.

~Shannon

The latest updates, including campaign news is on its way, I have a few more days of finals and then everything will be posted. I did want to tell everyone about the latest buzz from Wanda at EOnline though, apparently she has received so many e-mails concerning shows that FOX has cancelled, including The American Embassy, that she will be writing and calling FOX concerning these shows. Check out her chat transcript from 3 June and tell me what you think. The information is about 1/4 of the way down the page. It's under the question about saving the show Dark Angel on FOX. She has a little blurb about contacting FOX.

As Michelle posted on the Saving AE message board, I was contacted by John Landgraf the producer of AE with regards to the WB network. They were not willing to take on the show and were not likely to do so. As for the campaign, Mr. Langraf indicated that they were in "sketchy" talks with ABC and NBC and that it would be more likely that they would aim their efforts towards FX, and Lifetime Television. He asked that we focus our e-mails, postcards, and campaign efforts towards FX and Lifetime in addition to NBC and ABC. Since he said it would more likely have success on FX and Lifetime, our main campaign should now be headed in that direction.

With regards to contact information for FX and Lifetime here are the e-mail addresses:
FX Network user@fxnetworks.com
Lifetime Television http://www.lifetimetv.com/help/feedback.html
NBC nbcshows@nbc.com
ABC netaudr@abc.com

Mr. Landgraf said to extend his warmest regards to the campaigners, fans, webmasters, actors, etc of the show and to not give up. He is in this for the long-haul and is appreciative and thankful for all that we are doing. Long live the American Embassy!!!

There are a few new changes to the site, all of them are labeled in the new menu board. I have also put together a message board, not super sophistocated but it will work until I can assemble something better. I also wanted to remind everyone about the chat with Michael Cerveris this Thursday, May 9, 2002 on amazing-journey.com. Please e-mail your questions to the webmaster of AJ if you can't make it to the chat. The chat will begin at 6pm Pacific Time and 9pm Eastern Time. For further information follow the link in the menu bar.

Thank you to all the webmasters, campaigners, Michael, Michelle, Anne, Cassie, Leanne, Rory, and anyone else that I have forgotten by name who has helped on this campaign and sent information or posted on the boards. You are all important to our efforts, just as much as the people who made the show.
Thanks guys!

The latest news to share is that we have been published in my local Seattle paper, the Seattle P-I which has a readership of about 100,000 people, so our exposure has just increased. Here is the link which you can click on and find the story about 3/4 of the way down the column under the heading "Short Stuff". I hope this helps your spirits and inspires you to contact your local papers so they can find out what we are doing.

As many of you know FOX has been unwilling to listen to the fans and are becoming rather irritated with us AE supporters so those of us who are trying to give the campaign some sense of direction have decided to focus more on the WB than on FOX. In fact the producers have asked us to aim our campaign at the WB. That is not to say we should stop sending FOX letters, e-mails, phone calls, etc, but we need to remain polite and patient despite their negative reactions to us. As for the WB network, the producers of AE are going to pitch the show to the network therefore the WB needs to be made aware that there are many polite, congenial, and lovely fans already in place ready to watch AE on their network, therefore all of the Tea Bags should be sent to the WB address below:
President, Entertainment
Jordan Levin
The WB Network
Attn: The American Embassy
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg. #34R
Burbank, CA 91522
Phone: (818) 977-5000
e-mail: faces@thewb.com

President & CEO
Jed Petrick
The WB Network (at the above address)

Please make sure you address your letters and postcards to one of the above persons at the WB otherwise they will be returned to sender

There are some concerns about the tea bag campaign but so long as you either mail a box or a sealed packet tea bag than there should not be a problem. It has also been suggested that you mail two letters, one with a tea bag and one without. I will continue to update the progress of this part of the campaign as well as others throughout the coming days. Thanks everyone for your passion and enthusiasm for our cause!
