The North Lawn has a thick zoisya sod, great for croquette and requiring less mowing. Surrounding the lawn are several borders filled with bulbs, perennials, roses, and other shrubs, including the "North Lawn Shrub Border" and "North Lawn Rose Border". Seperating the lawn from other areas are several mature trees including willow oaks, pear, apple, and southern magnolia.

From one of the willow oaks, we have hung a swing which offers a relaxing seat with a great view of the rose garden. Next to the swing is "The Swing Bed". The effect is one of openess that still has a sense of privacy and enclosure. Perfect for picnics and lounging in the grass.
