Rose Bed Three May 2004 Rose Bed Three is along the south side of the garden, bordering the South Lawn. It is edged in lavender. Provence lavender does well in my area, and I have learned not to water it.

The roses in this bed are: Barbara Worl, Rose de Rescht, Mme. Hardy, a mislabelled rose I call "mystery fat pink", Emporer du Moroc, Penelope, Captain John Ingram, and Cardinal de Richelieu.

The roses are accompanied by: 'Thomas Edison' Dahlias, sedum, veronica alba, peonies, daylilies, asters, catmint (to lure the cats to chase away the voles--which is not working BTW), lamb's ear, oregano, thyme, echinacea and rudebeckia (still blooming in December), chives, and sage.

This bed is underplanted with: snowdrops, siberian iris, scilla, 'Lilac Perfection'Tulips, 'Pink Parasol' Narcissus, 'Apricot Beauty' Tulip, and sword lilies.
