Swing Bed, Fall 2003 The Swing under the Oak
The Swing Bed rests in the shade of one of the large willow oak trees on the property. It was planted in the Fall of 2001. There are hydrangeas, hostas, bleeding hearts, columbines, hardy geraniums, toad lillies, and hellebores. Bulbs include grape hyacinths and daffodils.

The hardy begonias did really well so I added more. The toad lillies that did so well in my last garden have been eaten down to nothing here. In Spring 2003, I added a camelia for some evergreen structure and a witchhazel, hamemilis virginiana, for some height.
