Without a doubt, the highlight of the woodland is the creek at the bottom of the hill. Surrounding it are marshy areas fed by springs which attract lots of wildlife, especially birds. The wet areas are the perfect habitat for ferns which reach five feet in the spring, as well as jack-in-the-pulpit and skunk cabbage.
The trees are a mix of hardwoods --oak and sycamore mostly, rising high above. The stark white figures of the sycamore are a pleasing sight in the winter. In the early spring we are treated with a hillside of forsythia and daffodils. | |||
