Tyronn Jamar Lue was born on May 3, 1977 in Mexico Missouri. A small city in the center of the state near Columbia. He was raised by his mother, Kim Miller as a single parent along with his brother,Gregory Miller and sister Shakea Lue. His Father was not a major part of his life and his mom wanted him to have a positive male figure around so she sent Tyronn to live with his uncle. After his Freshman year of high school he left to live with his Mother's brother in Raytown Kansas. There he lived with his aunt and uncle, Kevin and Sandra Graves. While in high school he played basketball for Rayton High with coach Scalon. After high school he went to Nebraska where he attended college for three years. There he played basketball for the Nebraska Huskies and majored in Sociology. While playing for Nebraska, Tyronn was named Big Eight All-Freshman Team, Second Team All-Big his sophomore year, and First Team All-Big 12 his junor year. After his junior year he decided to draft into the NBA. He was drafted by Denver on the first round and was the 23rd overall selection. Then on June 24, 1998 along with Tony Battie he was traded to the Lakers in exchange for Nick Van Exel. He signed a 3-year contract with the Lakers for 1.3 million for three years. He made his NBA debut on February 11, 1999 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He didn't play much his rookie season, because of a lower back injury. That injury caused him to miss 28 games. In total he played in only 15 games that season. His second season with the Lakers was no better than the first. He played in only 8 games due to an injured right knee and had to have reconstructive surgery on that knee. Even though the Lakers won the NBA championship in 2000, it was sadly no thanks to Tyronn's contributions. In his third season as a Laker finally free of injuries he played in 38 season games and 15 play-off games. During the 2001 NBA finals against Philadelphia he was given the task of guarding the league's MVP Allen Iverson. Tyronn did an exceptional job. |
