Sharkane
Sharkane is a 16 year old Icelandic female. She was captured in 1989, on the South East coast of Iceland. After capture, she, along with 3 other recently captured young whales, were placed in an tiny Icelandic Aquarium. They remained there for a few months before Sharkane, and a male named Tanouk, were moved to Marineland France. There they joined Freya and Kim, an young adult pair.

In 1993, Sharkane gave birth to her first daughter, Shouka. At this point, Sharkane and Freya, who did not get long, banded together to care for the calf. They also allowed Kim, Shouka's father, to interact with the calf, though they prevented Tanouk from going near her. Soon afterwards, Tanouk was sold, and Freya and Sharkane returned to there former hostile relations.

In 1999, Sharkane gave birth for the second time, this time to her son, Inouk. In 2001, she gave birth again, to her daughter, Wiki. Inouk, her 2 year old son, assisted with the birth, which was very unusual.

Lately, Sharkane and Wiki have been performing together. Sharkane remains separated from Freya, which will not likely change. Sadly, her first daughter Shouka is being sent to Six Flags Ohio in 2002, and that will likely cause Sharkane a lot of pain, as the two have been very close.
