Angel Story
Soldier of Tranquility Tranq for short
'...' = Thought "..." = Spoken words
This is something that I wanted to write to calm myself down 'cause Science Fair is killin me. Other reasons I wanted to write this are I saw all these fic sites and there were no fics I really like. My favorite Anime is Escaflowne and GundamW. I'm a bookworm and I like to read about magic and medieval times and things so this is gonna be a Alternate Universe fic, and it might be a crossover, I don't know. I thought of the idea of bursting wings even before Escaflowne was released. This is my first fic ever so don't flame me to badly. My favorite couple is HY&RP, but WC&SP is pretty funny, and so is DM&HS. I don't really like yaoi 'cause it's kinda weird (Don't flame me about that). I hope I figured out what a disclaimer is. R/R appreciated.
Rating: Do I have to rate this? I want this to be a G or a PG at first, but it'll probably develop into R or a NC-17 in the near future.
Disclaimer: What's a Disclaimer? I hope I got it right. I don't own Gundam or Escaflowne, they belong to some on richer than I am, like Sunrise and stuff. I wished I did though; I'd get a Playstation 2 and Gundam Battle Assault, a good laptop, and change schools. (Flips the finger at school logo) You can email me at TanisHalfElven69@aol.com
Anyway, ON WITH THE SHOW!! ER... STORY!!
Name of an Angel
Chapter 1
With a sigh, a youth of 17 years of age turned around from watching the sunrise. In the past few days, he just could not sleep. In his mind, he thought ' I wonder if it is because I am homesick? I really miss my parents, heck I even miss my bratty little sister!' Ever since he ran away from the quiet little hamlet he called home, he often thought of how stupid he was when he was 12, for now he wanted stay at home and live like a normal child. Suddenly his thoughts were cut off when four men appeared from the shrubbery about a hundred yards from the seashore were he stood. Not knowing weather they were friendly of not, he pulled an arrow from the quiver on his back and notched it on his bowstring. Since he left home, he had learned many things, and while living in the forest he became an expert shot with the bow. The men, seeing this, cleared their swords from their scabbards and cautiously approached him. The green-cloaked young man raised the bow and quickly shot at the most aggressive of the four soldiers. The metal tipped arrow went through the man's chest and killed him instantly. The other three hesitated for a moment, but in a moment, the hesitation turned to fear as the youth again raised the bow. The three remaining men were sent running away with the quick barrage of arrows that chased them. The young man knew what he had to do, and with a sigh, he threw off his cloak and concentrated. The light from the world's three suns glinted dimly on his muscular form. His handsome face showed a quick fleeting glimpse of pain as a pair of wings burst out of his back. Many thought this was a gift, but he thought it was a curse, for ever since he ate that glowing herb in the forest, he was able to sprout wings. On the bright side, the wings weren't just any type of wings. Many thought he looked like an angel, and they weren't far from the truth, for they indeed the wings of an angel. He drew from his side the sword of destiny, which he named Angel's Hand, and after his transformation, he thought it fitting for such a sword. An arm and half-lengths of cold star steel, the blade of the angel glowed in the sunlight. Flapping his wings, just to warm up, he suddenly froze, and with an audible swish, he was up in the air, bearing down on the retreating forms of the enemy. One of the men turned around when he saw a winged shadow below him. "Ahhhhhhhhh-" He screamed was cut off as the sword came flashing down. Once, Twice, Trice! Three more corpses joined the one on the beach. The angelic youth gently flapped his wings and hovered in the air. " Friends or enemy alike, rest in peace." With this said, Heero Yuy flapped his wings and soared across the sky to places unknown.
At the same time, a young princess looked up into the sky and saw a shooting star, and recalled an old legend, the legend of star wishing Princess Relena sighed and made her wish. "I wish that my true love would come back to me tonight." Thought the 17-year-old girl. Then she just sat there, her long honey blond tresses waving softly in the wind. Her beautiful face was full of longing for her love. As Relena thought of him, her angel wings spread open gracefully. No one in the world except Heero knew of her wings, and he surprised her by bursting his own out. Tonight, she would fly off and find him. Suddenly a guard shouted an alarm, and the bells started ringing. Someone was trying to enter the castle! Lanterns suddenly flared up all over the place, and guards were running everywhere, buckling on armor and preparing weapons. There were yells and shouts everywhere. Suddenly, there was silence. 'What was going on? Where was the enemy?' the thought rant thought ran though everybody's heads. The guard who shouted the alarm said "I thought I saw an angel, it had wings and everything, but where did it go?" Everyone shook their heads and muttered about guards sleeping on watch and seeing things. Suddenly, a figure was seen gliding silently overhead, right under the moon. It was an angel! The guards started yelling and shooting arrows, and the king was awakened.
"Your Majesty!" cried the attendants, "The guards have spotted something! They say it was an angel attacking the castle!" The King Peacecraft bolted out of bed. "An angel? Impossible! Why would it attack the castle even if it were an angel? Such nonsense!" He ran out on the balcony still speaking, "What kind of idea is that! There is no such things as --" He cut off abruptly as he was the winged figure overhead. The king of a great Empire of Sank stood speechless as he looked up. Suddenly, he snapped out of his swoon. "Shoot it down now! Shoot it down!" he yelled. Immediately arrows flew up at the "angel", but it lightly dodged them as it they were nothing. No one knew what to do. The "angel" dived down, drew his sword, and was about to slice into the ranks of archers when suddenly, some one spoke. "Heero! Stop! Don't hurt anyone! Please!" Heero stopped in mid swing. "Relena..." He said as he turned around.
The princess of the kingdom slowly came out onto her balcony. "I am here." With that she gracefully spread her wings. The soldiers were flabbergasted, for they had never seen the princess. Each man felt something take over him. Was it jealousy or was it lust. She slowly flew down from the balcony to Heero. The king and the queen just stared in shock at the princess; for she was not supposed to show herself to any man other than her father and her future husband, much less know a man. The queen nearly fainted as Relena kissed the unknown man. No one knew what was happening, some of the guards fell down from the shock at seeing the princess, but they weren't prepared for the sight that stood in front of them. As the princess and the unknown figure broke apart, the king suddenly yelled "Relena, get away from him and see me after this! Guards! Arrest that man!" Relena stood in the way of all the guards and said " Don't hurt him, I won't let you!" She suddenly felt a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I can take care of myself, love, do as your father says." Relena turned around "But Heero!" He smiled and said " Don't worry, I won't kill anyone as long as they don't bother me." Relena hugged him, "I don't want anyone hurting you!" Heero smiled and said again "Don't worry, you can see me in the morning." "Fine, but you better not be hurt and you have to promise that I can come see you." " I promise, for if anyone stops you and I know about it, I'll personally break both his legs." She smiled and stood aside. The guards came in with shackles and chains to bind him, but suddenly he spoke, " Those things won't do you any good, it wouldn't take me more that a second to break out of those, better take my sword and my word, for I am always true to it." The guards stared, unbelieving. Heero took one of the chains and pulled lightly on both ends. !Ping! The chain broke right in front of their eyes. The guards looked nervously at each other as Aerot unbuckled his sword belt and took of his belt of knives that ran diagonally across his chest. He then removed his cloak and said, "I wouldn't want to steal anything if I was you, because you might get more than you bargained for." He handed his things to a guard, and walked over to Relena and kissed her. "Good night, I'll see you in the morning." They kissed and she watched as the guards lead him away. He retracted his wings, and so did she, and with a sigh, she walked up the stairs to the throne room.
The king and queen waited for her there. "Relena, what just happened?" asked King Francis in a soft tone. "Where did you get those wings?" asked Queen Elaine. "Father, to answer your question, the man you just saw was Heero, my lover. He was trying to get into the castle to see me, for he hasn't seen me for a month. The guard usually doesn't see him, but maybe this time, he was lucky. I have known Heero for over two years now and I trust him, so please don't hurt him, though the opposite is more likely to happen, and I don't want anyone to get hurt. To answer your question, mother, these wings were with me ever since my fifteenth birthday, and I do not know how I got them." The king and queen pondered over these words. An attendant suddenly knocked on the door of the throne room. " Sire, we have brought the weapons as you asked." Three filed servants into the room and knelt down, offering the items to the king. One carried the sword, while another carried the belt, and the last carried the cloak. The king of the Empire of Sank stood up and took the sword from the first. The blade glinted dangerously in the firelight, as the king examined the sword. The guard was of silver, and the light played over the red pommel stone. It was a sword fit for an angel or a warrior. "This is a fine sword, it is even better than the one I have. I do not recognize the steel, though I wager the chief sword master can. Have him brought up here." Suddenly, Relena spoke up, " Heero told me about his sword. He calls it Angel's Hand, the pommel stone is a rare red diamond, and brown leather wraps the hilt. The guard is of silver, but he could not identify the steel. He found it many years ago when he ran away from home. He said found it in the Forest of Angels, which is in the Valley of Angels. He never told me were the valley was." The door burst open and the Chief Swords Master Duo came in.
"Ah, just in time," said the king, "tell me now, can you tell me about this sword?" Duo took a glance and froze. His knees gave out and he sank down on his knees, "The Angel's Hand! Sire, this sword belongs to Aerot! Where did you get it?" He spoke in a hushed tone. "Do you know of this sword, Duo?" "Sire I know a little about it, but could you tell me where Heero is? If he is dead, who killed him, for the killer must be a monster or a demon to kill him. If he is alive, where is he, I need to know!" The king knew from the tone of Duo's voice that he was worried and distressed. He spoke immediately to calm down his friend. "Don't worry, my friend. This Heero was the one who caused the uproar. He flew into the castle and my archers tried to shoot him down. He looked like he was about to kill my archers when my daughter Relena stopped him. He gave me his sword to prove his word that he won't escape, and he is currently resting in the prison." Duo looked like he was terrified. "Heero in prison! God, What were you thinking of! Sire release him at once before he kills everyone in the castle while making his escape!" The king laughed, "Duo, old lad, I have over sixty men guarding him, how will he be able to escape, much less kill every one in the castle. Ha Ha, just think about it, one man versus sixty! Ha Ha! The Chief Sword Master looked horrified. "Only sixty, is that all!" Duo was going hysterical now, " We would have lost the war if the 3rd army of Anderi attacked, but your report said, the army of six thousand got hacked to pieces by an unknown army. Well there was no other army, Heero killed them all himself! One versus six thousand! And you're talking about one versus sixty! Good lord!" The king was getting frightened now. He did receive the report that unknown forces destroyed the army, but he expected it to be a private army, not a single man!
"Father, Mother, Duo, Don't worry about it. Heero will stay were he is. I trust him about that." Duo turned to look at her, but was struck speechless by her beauty, "How-how wo-w-would yo-you kn-kno-know prin- princess?" "I'm the reason he was here, I'm his love." Duo had recovered by now and thought about it. "Well, in that case, I think we're pretty safe." "Duo," said the king, "can you tell me about the sword now?" "Of course sire, the Angel's Hand is a special sword made many millennia ago. Certain people can only wield this sword. Some people wear swords for decoration, but this is a warrior's blade. There is a legend saying that only angels can wield it. The angels are people that have eaten the herb called angel hair. The angel hair is impossible to find, for only people that are chosen will find it. Aerot found it when he was 14. He was looking for something to eat in the forest when he found it. The steel of the sword is called sky steel, for when there is a full moon it glows brightly. This is the only weapon that has ever been made of sky steel. Sky steel is rare, for it comes from a star." He stopped and sighed, "This is all I know Sire." The king sighed. He put down the sword and rubbed his temples. " Let us continue this conversation in the morning."
Chapter 2
The Fight: Demon from Hell Versus the Angel from Heaven
During the night, while all was quiet, a single guard stood on the north tower. Watchful and alert, he peered though the night sky. Suddenly, he thought the ground was moving in the distance. Those things were men! He stared at it a while longer until an arrow flew up at him, striking his left shoulder. "Attack! The castle is under attack! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! The soldiers quickly mustered, they climbed onto the battlements with bows and slings and long pikes, yelling for blood. "For Sank!!!! Ahhhh!!!!! For the Empire!!!!!" Suddenly, the soldiers froze. The numbers on the field! There must have been at least ten thousand! After their brief reverie, the soldiers on the battlements lined up to their prearranged ranks and started shooting arrows and slinging rocks. The enemy fell by the dozens. As the king came out onto his balcony, he, like his soldiers froze. "Duo! Out here at once!" The sword master came up to him. "Sire, we are beset by the 8th army of Anderi! They have over ten thousand men. We are losing the battle!" A ball of flame lit up the night sky. The king and the sword master stared in horror, for only a dragon could spit fire.
The dragon flew up into the air. It was over one hundred feet long! The men fell back in terror and fear. A white streak of light suddenly erupted from the castle dungeon. It passed though the throne room and grabbed the Angel's Hand. Heero flew up towards the mighty dragon, looking more like a shooting star than an angel. Duo suddenly spoke to the king, "My lucky lord, your castle, your men, your daughter, and your life has been saved, for the light is Heero, the Angel." At this, the king turned around and said in disbelief, "How can that "angel" do anything to a dragon, it is impossible! Why, if he won, I'd give him my daughter!" A voice, like the voice of a god answered. "But if I lost, you will get the Angel's Hand! Is it a bargain?" The king trembled at the voice. "You can't marry my daughter, your only a peasant, she deserves a handsome prince!" A melodic voice rang out, "Father, I would not marry one of those snobbish princes that would only marry me for my looks and for their lust. They only want to bed me. The princes don't love me for who I am! They would throw me into a dungeon until they have a use for me! I will only marry Heero, for he loves my heart!" "Daughter, you will never marry a peasant, only a prince, weather you like it or not!" The dragon saw the incoming streak and dived at it. Heero suddenly stood upright in the air. He slowly unfolded his wings from in front of him. Some glowing feathers floated around him. The Anderi army stood in shock, for they never expected an angel to fight for Sank. The Sankens took this chance to slaughter the Anderians and when the men awoke, from their swoon there were only around one thousand left. The main gates of the castle opened and the remaining guards and soldiers poured out. Though out numbered, the Sankens had heart, and they quickly turned this one-sided battle into a pitched battle.
The dragon and the angel looked like two hawks fighting for a mate. They were glancing off and coming back together, hacking and clawing at each other. The dragon suddenly spat a ball of flame. The king and Duo held their breaths. Heero held the Angel's Hand in an up down fashion and deflected the flame. The dragon, caught by surprise, froze for an instant. Heero flew up to the dragon's head and split it in half, drawing the cut to the dragon's belly. It exploded in a ball of blood. The king and Duo were choking on that breath. Below, the battle of men was won, with minimum losses. Sank was safe! The battle was won!
Heero slowly closed his eyes. He felt tired, he felt numb, and he felt sorrow, for he will never marry the woman he loved, and make her happy. As he thought of this, he gently folded his wings, several hundred feet in the air. 'My last flight,' he thought, 'wreathed in pain and sorrow. For I cannot live with the knowledge that you will be married to someone else, and be hurt by them.' He turned his face towards the castle. 'May you be the last thing I see, my love.' He opened his weary eyes. He saw the king and Duo on the balcony, with their mouths open in disbelief. He saw the guard who shouted the alarm, the arrow still in his arm, watching him as the ground rushed to meet the hero of the battle. He saw the men on the battlefield, tracing his rapid decent with their eyes. But where was his love? Out of the blue, she suddenly appeared before him, her wings spread, winging towards him, hoping to catch him in time, her face a picture of fear and love. Love for him, he realized. With his dying breathe, he shouted, "I love you Relena!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The Angel, The Dragon-Slayer, Wielder of the Angle's Hand, Champion of the Battles, Peacekeeper none of these titles meant as much to him as the last, soul mate to Relena, the Angel of his Heart. With this he smiled, closed his eyes, and waited for death. Falling unconscious, his last thoughts were of her. But death never came.
