Chapter 10: Kidnapping

The first step to exposing Une was getting thorugh to her, actually questioning her. Quatre put a video phone in front of him, and made the call. The crowd had gone, leaving Duo and Quatre alone. Sitting before the small screen, he wore the white turtleneck he had last night to disguise that he was a Third. He had a feeling someone like Une wouldn't want to talk to a Third. She possibly saw them as inferior.

"Yes?" came a reply, a secretary.

"I need to talk to Miss Une." Just saying her name this time turned bitter in his mouth. "It's an emergency."

"May I ask who's calling?"

Quatre's eyes darted around. "Winner. Quatre Winner." He bunched his fists.

"Do you have an appointment?" the woman asked.

"An appointment?" he said. "It just came up! Let me speak to her. Is she busy? If she isn't put me through. It's very important!"

The woman sighed and made contact with another line. He waited as she finally replied with: "All right, she'll take you."

"Thank you," he said, and was put through to Une. Duo leaned in from a distance, listening.

"Yes?" Une said.

"Miss Une?" He felt that bitter taste again. He fought off from sneering at the sight of her or even cussing her out. The others had taught him the worst habits. "There's a matter I need to discuss with you. And I don't want you to hang up on me, either. It's important. Very important...for me. You own a Third, don't you?"

"Are you with the press?"

"No I'm not," he replied. "I'm with the Criminal Justice Bureau. We've found your Third, Kyle, and he's going to be transferred to the Bureau for analysis and questioning. He's guilty for the assassination of former President Darlin."

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said. "I don't own a Third."

"I've found records of your name in his ownership. He even said it himself. You used him. You used him to assassinate former President Darlin because you didn't want to be convicted. You bribed him into doing your dirty work. I bet he was a good Third, a sane Third before you got your hands on him."

It was all true. He studied her face, even though she tried to hide it, he could read the truth on her.

"I told you," she said firmly. "I don't own a Third."

"Maybe not now," he said, he still didn't believe that. After all those times he bounced back, someone was helping Kyle. "But ten years ago you had. Do you want me to show you? I can bring up those files, those classified files."

"I told you," she said. "I don't own a Third. I have never owned a Third."

"Miss Une," he said. "don't lie to me. I know you're lying to me. I can tell." He grabbed the edge of his turtleneck and pulled down the cloth so she could see the collar on his neck. I'm a Third."

Une's eyes widened.

"That's right, Miss Une," he said. "you're talking to a fucking Third. I've investigated you for a while, and I'm going to prove you're guilty for former President Darlin's death, not just a Third."

"You can't prove it," she said. "No one's going to believe a Third."

"I might as well try." He sneered. "I've gotten too close to quit now. I won't let you win that election and I won't let you destroy my kind."

"I will destroy you," she said. "Thirds are worthless and a threat. Go ahead and tell them about Kyle, they won't believe you. All they will believe is that a Third killed the President. Either way, you'll loose."

Quatre frowned. "We'll see about that. You don't know what you're dealing with. I'm not done with you yet." He hung up and leaned back. Duo walked towards him. "I'm not giving up."

Duo crouched down beside him. "And I'll be there beside you. You got four guys behind you." He grinned.

"We may die trying," he said. He looked at him. "Are you willing to do that?"

"What have I got to loose? I'm just a wasted Third with no owner and no place. I'm behind you all the way."

Quatre grinned at him. "Thank you, Duo." He stood up.

The door was suddenly opened then. Heero bolted in. "Relena's been kidnapped. They know she's a Third!"

Both Duo and Quatre stared wide-eyed.

"Who?" Quatre asked.

"I don't know exactly who," he said.

Quatre, as always has his suspicions. "Show me." He pulled his visor from under his jacket and put them on. He led Heero to the bed, where they both sat. Heero put on his visor and played back his sight with the event at the mansion into Quatre's visor. He watched as the whole thing unfolded. It happened the instant when Heero walked in. There was screaming and a sound of breaking glass. Heero's vision jerked left and right. He spotted a few faces. Heero had rushed to Relena's location, but she had already been grabbed when he entered the room. Two men had her, armed. And by the giant window, a hovering helicopter was waiting. The men in the room fired at him, but Heero evaded the shots. They shoved Relena into the helicopter, screaming for Heero. He charged to them as it began to moved away. Heero leapt out of the window and caught onto the helicopter's runner.

Quatre lowerer his visor over his nose. "Heero, I have my suspicions. I have a gut feeling, a true, hard feeling that this is linked to Une. Don't you think?"

Heero lowered his visor over his nose like Quatre and looked at him. He had a thinking face. "I do. I want to believe it."

"Just think, Heero. Who would want to expose a Third belonging to former President than Une? She may have known. Or not. We have to find out. She's may show her discovery to the public, to destroy President Darlin's reputation."

Heero glowered. "Then let's do the same to her."

Quatre nodded. "Right."
