She walked from the meeting with her head hung. Yup, she was defeated. Those damned officials in there were SO out for her to crack so they could laugh and tell the little girl to go home. She never did enjoy listening to old men harp over old territories or weapons. She'd rid the world of ALL borders when she was queen! Heero was at her side the second she had emerged from the conference room. He whispered into her ear and she smiled. He extended his hand to her and the pair walked to the car.
She they entered the two looked into eachother's eyes, silently searching for some sign. Relena sighed and began to talk. "So Heero, what did you do today?" Her only response was a solemn 'Hn.' from him. She smiled, at least it was an answer. So she continued on, prattling on about nothing at all. She turned to him and asked simply, "Heero, why don't you ever talk to me? Why don't you tell me about things?" He shrugged, looking into her eyes.
"Because, I am here to protect you. Emotions get in the way of the mission. I can't afford that. You could get killed and then that would cause the failure of my mission," he stated as though it was fact. She sighed touching his arm gently. He knew he had hurt her, but the more distance he put between them, the safer she would be. "I can't afford your death," he stated, looking for some sign of understanding. He found the flicker of understanding deep within the recesses of her green-blue eyes.
The car came to a stop before her mansion. She sighed again, 'Back to the guilded cage,' she thought. Heero saw her distress and sighed. He couldn't let his emotions seep through the carefully constructed wall he had around himself. He led her to the room she slept in and checked carefully for any sign of intrusion, he noted the bear he had given her for her birthday was moved slightly. He allowed her to enter her room, where upon entry she sighed again. He sat in his usual spot and watched her intently as she moved around the room, gathering her bed clothes. She entered the bathroom and emerged moments later wearing a pair of flame PJ pants and a black tank top she took from Heero on one of their trips. Besides, it looked better on her.
She sighed, slipping into her bed, pulling the sheets around her. "Heero, do you ever wish you were a normal teenager?" She looked at him as he answered, his features changing slightly, becoming more gentle.
"Sometimes. But then I would probably be dead by now, fighting without the skills I have now. And I wouldn't be protecting you," he paused, looking at her reaction. Feeling pleased, he continued, "Maybe we wouldn't have even met." He looked at her. A lone tear slipped down her cheek. He walked over to her catching the tear on his fingertip before brushing the rest off of her cheek.
She looked at him, "I wish I was a normal girl. Then I could dress how I want to, do what I want to, all of that stuff. I have never even had a boyfriend. I want to be able to know what it feels like to have a boyfriend, and, as bad as it sounds, to be dumped. I don't know what it feels like. I don't think I ever will..." she trailed off. Heero looked at her.
"Go to sleep. I will be right here if you need me," he whispered to her, soothing her. She closed her eyes, letting another tear slip out unnoticed.
"I need you here with me..."

Relena awoke to the smell of bacon and eggs. She smiled. She rose with no complaints for today was her day off. She trod downstairs still clad in her PJ's. She stopped upon seeing her brother and Noin in the kitchen. She shot Noin a small smile and hugged her brother. Heero, too, was sitting at the small breakfast table. She smiled at him. And out of the blue, he smiled back! Today was going to be a good day.
Heero finished his breakfast and waited patiently for her to finish as well. As she did, they left to go get dressed. She emerged to see Heero already clad in baggy jeans and a black tank top, showing his muscular arms. She wore some big BugGirl jeans with stars on the back pockets, a black tank top that showed her stomach, black boots and belt. Her hair was crimped and thrown up in a clip with a blue babushka (A.N: Ok, my mom is polish and she calls them babushka’s, they're really a hair bandanna.) and large silver hoop earrings. She also wore black eyeshadow and red mascara. Heero thinked she looked more like the 17 year old she really was this way. The pair hopped into Heero's red vintage 2003 MR2 Spyder and proceeded to start their day.
"Heero, can we go to the mall? I haven't been there in a long time and I heard a few new stores opened," she spoke. He smiled and floored it to the mall. She laughed as the wind flew through her hair. Heero was much better like this, she decided. He finally found a parking space and they walked into the mall. Relena was being followed by someone far off. Heero turned and looked around. He noticed the falling strands of chocolate brown hair about a meter long as it disappeared into the crowd.
"Duo Maxwell," he said just loud enough to get a reaction. Duo's head popped up from behind a pillar. He had a hurt look on his face.
"Aww man, why'd you have to go and blow my cover? There's some crazy chick following me... AAAGGGHHH, she found me, HELP!" he ducked behind his girlfriend, Hilde. The girl suddenly didn't find Duo so attractive. Hilde glared at her and the girl left. She smiled triumphantly. "Thank you, babe." She looked at him, smiling sweetly.
"Hey DUO!!!" came a voice from behind them. Heero and Relena turned to see Quatre, Trowa, Cathrine, Dorothy, Sally and Wufei. Quatre looked, realizing that Heero stood before them he gasped, "Heero, where's 'Lena?" Heero pointed to the girl next to him, Quatre sighed, apologizing, "Oh, Relena, I didn't notice it was you!" She smiled.
"Well, that WAS the plan. How are you guys doing?" she smiled and questioned. They all told them they were fine. She looked to Heero. "How about we hang with them today?" He just nodded. She enjoyed him more when her was opened up and acting like the 18 year-old he really was on the inside.
Relena dragged Hilde and the other girls down to Hot Topic. The guys sighed and followed. Relena smiled in satisfaction at the fact she felt so at home here in this store. She marched over to the pants, picking up a pair of black jeans with a huge leg and a red flaming insert to each leg. She tried them on and finally decided to get the 5's. Then she and Hilde saw a shirt describing them all. It was a red baby tee with 'I'm no Angel' on it in black velvet. Relena smiled, looking at Hilde, "Does it describe me?" she questioned the guys, holding it up to her. Heero smiled.
"Suits you," he laughed. Duo looked on in awe as the 'Perfect Soldier' opened up. Hilde smacked him and dragged him to the checkout line. As soon as all had their purchases they marched the guys up to, DUN, DUN, DDDUUUNNNN.... Victoria's Secret. Duo dropped to his knees before the entrance.
"Sweet mother of GOD!" he cried while Hilde tried desperately to pry him off the floor. To no avail, sadly. Heero and Relena just entered, she walking calmly over to the lingerie. She plucked a black lacy bodice and garderbelt from the wall. (A.N: In her size, of course. No one knows what she wears beneath those uniforms! And I am a chic, I wear it too... when I feel pretty... sometimes... stop looking at me like that!!!) She also bought a red water bra. (A.N: Those give really nice support!) She made her way to the cashier and paid for her underthings. Duo just stared on in awe, still. "Hey, 'Lena! If I dump Hilde, can you wear that for me?" he joked, gaining him a smack from Hilde. And so the group left the mall and the care free life of teenagers to return to the business and politics of the real world they lived in. At least for one day they were free... one day.
