Duo and HildeThis pair, are controversial. Friends for sure we know, but they live together, duo is a *very* good looking guy and Hilde is an attractive girl. Why shouldn't they be a pair?
Duo
Duo is the second gundam pilot(I hate to refer to them as numbers in my opinion they all share equal abilities) he is attractive and cocky, but this is just a fascade. He is an insecure guy, who has been abandoned all his life and clings on desperately to those who share a common interest (that's Heero i'm talking about, so get over it hentai lovers - they are friends nothing else!)
He pilots the gundam, takes the chance, because he'll either die a victorious death as Shinigami, or he'll save the colonies and be someone worthwhile. Life is now an adventure. He hates Oz, until he meets Hilde (at first she is an Oz officer.) whom he likes (ah come on we can all see it!)At first he almost flirts with her, but we soon realise this is just Duo's way. When Duo and Hilde finally meet in battl;e the pair discover that they are both fighting for the same thing, so Hilde helps Duo make an escape, only to be caught in the end.
Duo finally finds soemone like himself, but not like himself at the same time. She's a girl and very much like him. His personality, will to fight, and his amazing strength inside. But she is not a Gudnam pilot and doesn't know the strains, the only friends he can call upon there are the other pilots.
Duo seems to have a link with each of the pilots that holds them together. It is widely said that Quatre does this, and I suppose he does to an extent,but without Duo there would be no humour,no light cockiness. There would be the three masters of silence and a poor abandoned puppy (no offence to the pilots or anything)
In short Duo is a mixed up guy, who is still looking for his next big mission, hoping that someday he'll become Shinigami. But also, hoping to find some kind of peace somewhere, he's a drifter and so is Hilde
Hilde
Hilde is an Oz officer when we first meet her(who looks surprisingly like a mini Noin, maybe the animators just got lazy, or she is a fan. She takes Duo's flirts astonishingly well, either being too thick to realise or brushing them off
We are first shown signs that Hilde cares when she helps Duo from the attack. Maybe this is because he says that he is fighting for the good of the colony, but an Oz soldier would be more suspicious. So i think that she really has a crush on Duo, being the reason for trying to save him
In short Hilde is a tough lass, oen that even Duo the God of Death himself finds it hard to tango with
