Heero stood in the shower, the spray hitting him was freezing cold, but he didn’t realise, because he had been numb before he had gotten into the shower.
For the first time in a long time, Duo wasn’t with him in the shower. Duo had left only recently…
<
“Heero…” Heero continued to click away at the keyboard, “… HEERO!!” Duo had yelled. Only then had Heero actually grunted and stop typing to show that he was listening.
Duo continued, “H- Heero, I’m leaving you…” That had gotten the stoic young mans attention. He had stood up so quickly that his chair had fallen backwards.
“What do you mean?” Heero had asked.
“I’ve found someone else, they treat me good, they don’t hurt me…” he trailed off. The fact that Heero hit Duo sometimes was no secret…
Then Duo had left.
<
Suddenly, out of absolutely nowhere, Heero was struck with an idea. He tried to push it away, it just… wasn’t him, but the idea refused to cease bothering him.
He now had a mission; he would NOT fail this one.
~~~
Heero had been preparing for over a month. He had gotten Quatre to suggest a place for Duo to go to. It was a small place where people could perform tributes to others, and it prospered most among the gay community.
Heero then discovered the night in which Duo would go there, through Quatre.
He would be there too.
~~~
Heero was extremely nervous, he had never done anything like this, and hopefully he would never have to again.
It was his turn.
“This next person wishes to have his name remain anonymous, He’ll be singing a song written by himself.” The announcer explained.
Heero stepped up, this was sooo not like him, and it didn’t feel right.
As he sat down in the stool provided, the music started. He had written the music as well, and he was surprised that the instrumentalists had learnt it so quickly.
((This Romeo is bleeding,
But you can’t see his blood,
It’s nothing but some feelings,
That this whole thing, kicked up
It’s been raining since you left me,
Now I’m drowning in the flood,
You see I’ve always been a fighter,
But without you, I give up.
I can’t sing a love song, like the way it’s meant to be,
And I, will love you, baby,
Always.
I’ll be there, forever and one thing,
Always.
I’ll be there till the stars don’t shine,
Till the heavens burst, and the words don’t rhyme,
And when I die, you’ll be on my mind,
And I love you, Always.))
During the short pause Duo, despite himself, started crying a little… this was too much like what was going on between himself and Heero.
((Now your picture’s there,
You left behind, all these memories,
Of a different life.
Something made us laugh.
Something made us cry.
Well, what made you have to say, goodbye?
What I’d give to run my fingers, through your hair,
To touch your lips,
To hold you near.
When you say your prayers, try to understand,
I’ve made mistakes; I’m just a man.
When he holds you close, when he pulls you near,
When he says those words you’ve been meaning to hear,
I wish I was him, that those words were mine, to say to you, till the end of time.
And I, will love you, baby,
Always.
I’ll be there, forever and one thing,
Always.
If you told me to cry for you,
I could.
If you told me to die for you,
I would.
Take a look at my face,
There’s no price I won’t pay, to say those words to you.))
“Just a minute…” Duo whispered to his partner as he stood up, “I want to see who that is singing…”
As Duo rounded the corner, his eyes fell on the singer, who just happened to be Heero. His eyes widened. Heero’s unusually emotion full eyes met Duo’s and he smiled weakly.
((Well there ain’t no life, in these loaded dice,
So baby if you’ll give me just one more try,
We can pack up our old dreams and our old life,
We’ll find a place where the sun still shines.
And I, will love you, baby,
Always.
I’ll be there, forever and one thing,
Always.
I’ll be there till the stars don’t shine,
Till the heavens burst, and the words don’t rhyme,
And when I die, you’ll be on my mind,
And I love you, Always.
Always.
You’re the only one in the world,
You’re the only one in the world,
You’re the only one in the world.))
The song trailed off with the verses, ‘you’re the only one in the world’.
“Heero!” Duo blurted, “What are you doing here?!”
Heero smiled weakly again, “I wanted you to know how much I love you…” he muttered, even his voice sounding emotional. That sentence spoken by Heero made heads turn, both to Duo and Heero.
Duo looked angry, “It’s not your place!” he said. Duo’s new boyfriend stepped up behind the small braided boy and glowered at Heero before he too spoke.
“Heero, so you’re the one who Duo left…” he muttered.
It was known instantly throughout the whole place that Heero did NOT like this new man, just by the look on his face.
“You may as well just leave now…” he continued, “I refuse to allow Duo to go back to someone like you, you don’t deserve love… especially along with the fact that you beat your partners!”
All heads turned to Heero, some looking disgusted.
Heero glowered at the man, “It’s true I did, but I’ve realized what I did wrong now, and I know I’ll never to it again!” he sounded very insistent.
Duo frowned, “Derrick! Heero! stop it!” he ordered in irritation. He stared Heero down, “How do I know that you’re telling the truth?” He asked.
Derrick smirked for a second, then the smirk disappeared, “You’re not actually thinking of going back to him!” he said loudly.
Duo looked down to the ground, “I never wanted to leave him.. but somehow I let you convince me that it was for the best!” he said, equally loudly.
All heads turned to Derrick.
Duo continued, “And I care about you a lot.. but… I’ve been miserable since I left Heero, I’ve loved Heero since the war…” he said.
Heero couldn’t help but to smile just a little.
Derrick growled and grabbed Duo by the shoulders, “Don’t be stupid, how could you love someone like him?!” he said angrily.
Duo winced, “Ouch, stop that hurts…” then Derrick’s words sunk in, “He’s a good person!” he said angrily.
Heero sat back and let them figure this out, but he was growing ever more irritated.
Derrick seemed to snap, he raised his hand and hit Duo, by the looks of it, harder then Heero himself ever had.
Heero leapt forward and punched Derrick back before kneeling beside Duo, who looked shocked beyond words as he slowly stood up.
Derrick, sporting a large bruise on his jaw stood up and growled, “You’ll regret this you little whore!” he said to Duo, before backing away and leaving the building.
Duo threw his arms around Heero suddenly, “I missed you, and I want to be with you forever!” he stated
Heero smiled, “I’ll stay with you forever and longer…” he whispered so only Duo could hear.
~~TBC~~
TBC as in there will be a sequel, not TBC as in there will be another part.
I imagine the sequel will be action filled. I think Derrick will come back and try to exact his revenge or something.
