In the following of Gundam Wing there are several ways fans worship. One is to make a website (such as my own). Others have shires, where visitors can leave cyber offerings to their favorite characters. There are also fanfics and fanart. Within these two forms of fan worship there are several genre: YOAI/YURI, Hentai, and what I call ‘ATS’ meaning as to series. There are also message boards and mailing lists. I think the nice part about a message board is you can ‘talk’ to others with the same interests as you. Mailing lists are great because you can get a wide variety of fanfics and general comments.
Within Gundam Wing there is a spilt among fans. Some are YOAI/YURI all the way, while others are Hentai. And, of course there are those in the middle. I’m not going to say which I am. If you have been to my site and looked it over you already know. But, I will say that before Gundam Wing was aired on Cartoon Network in the United States, in Japan there was a large YOAI/YURI following already.
Want to know what kind of fan you are or want to be? All I can suggest is go and read fanfics, join mailing lists and message boards and see what is out there. Not everyone who comes across YOAI likes it and vise-versa. Fandom is a wild and wonderful world; you just need to go in expecting everything and then some.
