Villains or Heroes?

So, just who are the villains in GundamW anyway?  You could point to Treize, Zeches, Tsubarov, or Dorothy; heck you could even point to the G-boys if you really wanted to.

So, what makes a villain?  Well, I think a villain is someone who just likes to make a mess of things.  I'm talking about good old fashion comic book villains who are way smarter than the heroes could every hope to be.  The joker never really needed to make his jobs as grand and big as they were, but he did because it was fun for him.  That is how I define a villain.

Of course, people label others villains for other reasons too.  Mainly because they can't see the other side of the coin (the villains pov) or just completely disagree with everything the villain stands for.  I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I just like to think of everyone's points and objections before I go a label anyone anything.

I'm going to start by saying that the dubbed version makes Treize and Zeches out to be nasty men.  They aren't, it's just that simply.  I would like to think that in America we don't need to make some poor man the bad guy so badly that we will give them a bad voice actor, or change their lines to make them seem worse than they really are.  But, I seem to be mistaken.  Zeches is made to look like an egomaniac and Treize just seems crazed.  For fans that have never seen the subbed version, all I have to say is your missing out.

Now, the G-boys (as much as I love them, even Chang Wufei) could sorta be the villains here.  I mean, they go in and add vinegar to baking soda by pissing off OZ and making things worse.  They do it with the best of intention, but as my grandmother would say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."  But, I like to see them as the underdogs (of course, I don't think the underdogs in a normal case would have better equipment) fighting for what they see as right.

Tsubarov, now I can't see him in any light but bad.  Of course, he messes with Treize and I just don't like that.  So, my personal views could be getting in the way.  So, before I start to defend him and his yucky mobile dolls, I would like it understood that I don't like this man at all.  But, I feel that everyone should get to show both sides of the coin (you can call me two-face if you like), so here we go.  Mobile dolls cost less; soldiers are expensive and can be hurt, get sick, need rest and can cause a general mess.  Mobile dolls don't put any one's life at risk, no bloodshed.  What could be better than that?  And his general dislike for anything gundam?  Well, they did sorta come in and disturb everything; he just wants to bring order to chaos.  Removing the gundams and what they symbolize is the way he chooses to do it.  (Now I feel dirty).

Lady Une, I like her.  I can't help myself.  I know that a lot of gundam fans really dislike her (they even put her in the same league as Relena, for shame!).  I suppose she is sorta nuts, the whole spilt personality thing, but she does her job *so* well.  I like Lady Une better that Saint Une to be very honest.  Saint Une is some much like Relena in some ways it makes me a little sick, but Lady Une is strong and sure.  The only thing I would change is her obsession with Treize.  I like Treize, but I think Lady Une pushes it.  But, as with Treize, Zeches, and the G-boys, I can't really put her in the villain category.

The Romefeller Foundation (Longerfellow for the subs) isn't really a villain either in the beginning.  Once they side with Tsubarov, then the organization just goes down the tubes as far as I am concerned.  I try to have an open minded about that man, but he shots my girl and has Treize put under house arrest.  I just can't like him, oh how I have tried.  Oh well.

Relena, she isn't a villain.  A major annoyance, yes.  But not a villain.  She sorta reminds me of a fly.  You can't really ignore it, but it doesn't bother you too much either.  Now, a wasp you run like hell (or I do, allergic), but a fly just is there.  So, while I don't really like her too much, I can't put her into the villain category.  Darn, and I was *so* looking forward to that.

Dorothy, I like her too.  Again, I know that goes against the grain for people , but too bad.  She is the anti-Relena.  She loves everything Relena is trying to stop, its great.  For me, the jury is still out on whether she is a villain or not.  I think I need to watch the last couple of episodes again and decide.

So, at the end we have one villain and a bunch of people who don't see eye to eye, hmmm.  If only there were some way to get them into a large room and they could just duke it out.  I can see it now, Relena would be shouting at the top of her lungs for Heero to come and kill her, Heero would disappear, Duo would be talking his head off to Dorothy about how he is the god of death, Dorothy would try to get a word in edgewise about how she loves war, Zeches would be telling Noin how unworthy he is, Quatre would try to keep everyone moving in the same direction (towards peace), Change Wufei would be sulking about how he is unfit to pilot Nataku, Trowa would be silently sitting at the table and Lady Une would be asking Treize if he wanted her to draw a bath for him.  Maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea.
