*A Sorrowful Past*

~*~The History of Death~*~

Thanks to Katsudon for giving me most of this information!

In the Beginning
Duo was born on Earth around AC 180, but nothing drastic happened in Duo's life until AC 187 when he was seven years old. He somewhat drifted onto the L2 colony, which at the time was very poor had a good deal of fighting. Duo was an orphan, which was made clear by the fact he had no name. On the L2 colony, he was taken in by a kid named Solo who led a group of orphans. However, Solo became infected by a virus that was sweeping its way through the entire colony. Being the little selfless kid that he was, Duo snuck into a hospitol and stole the vaccine for everyone but himself; the authorities had seen no reason to give out the vaccine to people of lower class. But despite his efforts, it was already to late for Solo, and before he died he said to Duo, "Even after I die, I'll always be with you...so be nice." After Solo's death, Duo figured that if Solo would always be with him, then they'd be Duo, thus giving him his name (isn't that sweet?). Duo never ended up getting the virus, for it seemed Solo was truely watching over him. In honor of Solo, Duo took his place as leader of the orphans.

Later Years
One day Duo took the orphans to steal food from a Federation base. They ended up being caught, but managed to escape. However, the abandoned building that they had been living in was torn down, leaving them with no place to go. A small church called the Maxwell Church (which was run by Father Maxwell, go figure) took all the orphans in. There they were fed and clothed (which was a lot like the outfit that Duo still wears) and taken proper care of. When one of the nuns tried to cut Duo's hair, he refused to let her, and so instead she braided it for the sake of neatness. Duo later on grew to like the hairstyle, and kept it, saying that now it wouldn't get in the way when he was stealing stuff. Later, he and the orphans were sent to a Federation-run school, which was mainly for children of military personell. Duo soon became the top student in the class, for he rarely needed to study and learned very quickly. This, and the fact he was an orphan, allowed him to be a main target for kids to pick on, and was constantly getting into fights. One fight turned into a much more serious context when Duo placed five other children into the hospitol. The school threatened to expel Duo for his actions, but Father Maxwell apologized for him and promised he would never do it again. Duo felt extremely bad for putting the Father through all this, and he truely never did it again. Father Maxwell and the nun, Sister Helen, were Duo's first family. The next year, the colony turned into a battlefiled once again. The church became a haven for the wounded soldiers in the fighting. One of the soldiers suggested that they use mobile suits to aid them in the fighting, but Father Maxwell devalued the idea, bringing up the matyred peace leader Heero Yuy. The soldiers were furious, and to express their anger, struck the Father over the head with the butt of a rifle. They then accused Duo of being a Federation spy (he did go to a Federation run school). In an effort to save the church, Duo said that he would steal a moblie suit for them if they promised to leave the church alone. But they didn't believe him. To this he said, "I may run and I may hide, but I don't lie." To prove his point, Duo ran to the base admist gun fire and explosions, stole a Leo suit, and drove back to the church. But when he returned, he found the church in ruins and a dying Sister Helen among the rubble. Her last words to him were "May God be with you" before she too fell to the blanket of death. This was the first (and last) time Duo ever cried over a death. He was utterly heart broken. Later, the incident was called the Maxwell Church Tradgedy. In total, 245 people were killed in the massacre. Duo disappeared after this, and it was many years before he gathered up the will to resurface.

Birth of a Gundam Pilot
No one knows for sure just when Duo met up with Doctor G. All that is known is that when Duo stowed away on a carrier ship, he was caught and brought on deck to face judgement. Dr. G evidently saw something he liked in Duo, for he not only let him stay on the ship, but let him join the group as well. Eventually, Dr. G gave Duo the Gundam Deathscythe to pilot. At first, Duo was thrilled, but later when he found out the true purpose of the Gundam, he became infuriated. He set up bombs around the Deathscythe and attempted to blow it up, but Dr. G somehow knew of his plan, and deactivated the bombs before Duo could set them off. The doctor told Duo to steal the Deathscythe, and then go off to Earth so he could fulfill the mission as Duo saw fit, which evidently, he did....
