Warning: Some objectional language, otherwise, pretty tame, nothing that'll

Note: This takes place in season one

It was late, everyone was asleep....everyone, that is, except for me, I

was sitting quietly, watching the last dying embers extinguish themselves

while I thought to myself, what happened last night?......Last night when

Mimi and I kissed.......

*SNAP!*

I heard a noise in the bushes, I spun around to see.....

nothing.....

.....Tai and Sora weren't in their sleeping bags.....I had some idea what

was going on. I chuckled quietly to myself and went back to my thoughts.

I kissed Mimi last night, I accepted that part....but what about Mimi? What

did she think about the entire situation? Why did I do it? Why now? Why

altogether?!

"Matt, are you awake?"

That voice.....that same voice I heard every night in my dreams....Mimi

"Yeah, I'm awake....."

Should I confront her? I argued silently with myself as she approached

"Couldn't sleep, huh? Me neither", Mimi struggled to start a conversation

as she sat beside me, her eyes staring off into the darkness.

"....Whatever..."....my standard reply....the word had lost all meaning to

me, it was an automated response....

Mimi sat there silently, waiting for me to do or say something.....Maybe I

should confront her about what happened last night....I brought up all my

courage and...

"Mimi, we have to talk"

"Yes Matt? What is it?", I was scared, what should I say next? This

confronting your emotions stuff is hard!

"Mimi, about last night...I...uh...."

She turned away, "Don't say another word Matt, I know what you're trying to say"

"Wait! Let me finish!"

"No, this has happened too much, something like this happens and the boy

always tells me the same thing..'Mimi, I'm sorry but I didn't mean it, I

got caught up in the moment"...blah blah blah...Well, I don't want it to

happen again!" She sobbed angrily

"Mimi...no, I won't say that....."

I put my hand on Mimi's shoulder and moved closer to her. "Mimi, last

night, I...I finally got a chance to do something I'd wanted to for a long

time....", "Really?", Mimi's sobs calmed down. "Yes.". MImi's big eyes

started to water a bit as she looked at me. I fell into the moment. Her

lips moved as if to speak but I heard no words...I was caught in the siren

spell of this beautiful girl. I interrupted her the same way I did the last

time. That same deep, passionate kiss.....she responded in kind. When it

ended, I sighed deeply to myself and tried to figure it all out....

"Matt, why do we keep doing that?"

"I'm trying to figure that out.....Do you think......"

The last few words of that sentence wouldn't come out.

"MImi, what I'm trying to say is that I.....I l-love you"

Those last three words sputtered out, I sat in expectation, waiting for

Mimi's response....she looked shocked, yet almost like she expected it....

"Um...I....uh....."

Mimi and I switched roles.

"I love you too...Yamato Ishida"

Yamato Ishida....Nobody used that name with me....except loved ones and

close family, at least.....My eyes began to water now, and we embraced

happily.

*SNAP!SNAP!*

I spun aroun again, this time to see Tai and Sora walking out of the

bushes, slightly disheveled and panting....."Uh...Hi guys!"..."Hi indeed,

what have you two been doing?", I knew what they'd been doing, I just

wanted to make him sweat a bit...."Uh.....none of your business Matt!", I

smirked mischeviously and walked back to my sleeping bag, able to rest

peacefully now that I knew Mimi felt the same for me.

It's amazing what one night can do, huh?
