As Alex grew and went to the normal schools that every kid at Von Braun eventually went though, he started to show his strong will and loyalty to his friends. Many times when his friends got into a tight spot he would always show up and turn the situration around. When he turned 10, Alex was introduced by a friend into the world of combat. He fell instantly in love with edged weapons and immidatly began to train himself and his body in the use of these uniqe weapons. He went on to study their usege and heritage and became a master in the use of two weapons, the warhawk and the rapier. As his fighting abilties grew, so did his intrest in war and fighting, eventually he was able to convince his family to allow him to become a solider. He soon joined the nearby military acadamy and begain training to become a soldier at the age of 16. His already honed skills in close combat gave him an edge over other trainies and set him up to becomming a MS pilot.

On his 17th birthday, he was assigned to MS pilot training. His training went by faster then most of his instructors expected, his abilties worked and handled best when piloting an old Zaku I. Then during his brithday party of 18, which was ment to celebrate both his age and also the fact he would soon be gradurating from the acadamy as a full time MS pilot and soldier, an event happened the changed his life. Radicalists had taken over several colonies and he and others were sent to capture them. However commanders failed in launching them and other military units in time after finding out that their calling the radicalists' threats, a bluff proved wrong and several colonies were sent at the Earth sphere.

Alex was among the first to intercept the colony heading for Luna and was first into combat he and his Zaku I scoring several kills, but his and the efforts of the other trainies and soldiers were in vain though they killed all the raticalists, the colony couldn't be stopped and so he pulled from the colony and watched as it hit Luna. The site both horrifed him and at the same time tore at his soul. Tears ran from his eyes as he saw the colony impact. The blast however, was more then he or others had planned on large peice of debrie nearly destroyed his suit and knocked him unconcious and the force sent his old Zaku far into space.

After a day of floating in space, he was picked up by a patrolling Zeon ship. Before his personal data could be pulled, to futher complicate matters the Zaku blew up, he was suffering from Amneisa and thus he was unable to confirm who he was or where he had come from. Eventrally he grew to be accepted by the crew of the small cruiser which eventrally got him to Side 3 there he was taken in by the Republic's military and given the name Draco Dassault. He slowly ajusted to life as a person without a pass and soon became a well liked person, however on part of Draco's past stayed with him, his loyalty and love of his firends and his abilties in close combat and piloting a mobile suit.
