Personality:
Generally calm and laid back, Lee is very easy to get along with. He'll often take his time with whatever he's doing, even if it's a simple task such as vacuuming. In combat, he is just as meticulous as he is when vacuuming; making sure everything is under control and goes according to the plan. He doesn't care if people insult him for being a Spacenoid because he has no allegiance to his former homeland. At first he was against war and the idea of killing anybody, but now the battlefield is in him and he has become addicted to combat. Over time he has picked up some of Santos' quirks, including his humor. Outside of combat, Lee spends most of his time reading manuals on captured Mobile Suits or other technology. He also enjoys a good fiction book from time to time. |
Background:
Lee Roux was only fifteen when the Great War was in its final year, but that didn't stop Zeon from conscripting him as a mechanic. Because he'd been an advanced placement high school student, he was already studying basic robotics technology and became handy with Miniature Mobile Suits. The Zeon Military saw this as being good enough since they needed more mechanics for the Earth invasion forces. Lee wasn't a patriotic person and didn't support the war, but was forced against his will to go to Earth.
He was sent to the Mediterranean costal region and was only there a short time before the mass colony drop occurred. The base he was stationed at was thrown into turmoil when word got out that they were stranded on Earth. Before Lee could even take in what was going on, the soldiers in the base split into two factions and began fighting each other for control of the supplies. Not knowing who to side with, Lee ran away from the base and went AWOL. Since they were too busy fighting each other, nobody noticed he was missing.
Lacking the sufficient survival skills for surviving on his own, Lee had a hard time wondering around the Mediterranean Coast. As he wandered around, he could only feel hatred towards his Zeon homeland for forcing this predicament on him. Days passed and what little supplies he had taken with him were finished, Lee now had to search for food, but he wasn't sure what he could eat in the wild. Days later, the pain was unbearable and he gave into his hunger and ate some wild mushrooms, a decision which would almost end his life. The mushrooms were poisonous and he fell disgustingly ill over night. It was the next morning that Santos Andripolous' unit found him and saved him from the mushrooms poison.
After he was well enough to talk, Santos questioned him about his age and why he was wearing a Zeon uniform. He told him of how he ended up on Earth and his forced military service. Santos could tell that Lee wasn't a Zeon loyalist or a threat to the rest of the team, so he allowed him to stay on. At first not many people were kind to him, and Santos would give him a hard time even, but this was all to fortify him. Over time he was treated no different from the others and for a time helped with the unit's Mobile Suit repairs. Santos would later personally train him in Mobile Suit piloting and combat tactics, as well as other skills Lee should know if he planed to live on the battlefield.
When Santos joined the Desert Baronies, Lee was one of the first to offer to go with him. He liked the idea of a unified front that would be able to effectively fight off the Zeon's or whoever else tried to invade his new homeland. Fifteen years has changed him a great deal and now that he's thirty there are still things he wishes to do in life. One of which is to raise a family and make sure his children get the childhood that was taken away from him. Lee will have to get over his combat addiction before that could be possible, and it doesn't seem like it will happen anytime soon.
