Child Bride

Katsuya followed Faith in silence. So far, everything went great. No problems with the young girl. Just prayer and to the market. Fruit and vegetables that she bought. Then to see the elderly and homeward bound. Boring mission, but better than fighting a demon right now. He just wouldn’t know what to do. Sure, the man fought in the army for years. But that was different. The enemy was human then. Now, Katsuya would have to fight… *gulp* demons! The soldier froze in his tracks. Could he even do that? Would he even be able to do that?

The question got postponed for now. For something caught Katsuya’s eye. A young woman stood on the edge of a bridge up ahead. She stared down into the water. The girl seemed so sad about something. Katsuya slowly walked closer to the girl. She looked about fifteen years old. Long blonde hair to her high back. Skinny little body. She looked like a little Barbie doll. Katsuya noticed that the girl was dressed for a wedding as well. Short white lacy dress that blew lightly in the wind. Matching long white veil in her hair that did that same thing as her lovely dress. Bouquet had been dropped to the ground already. The soldier put the whole story together in his mind. This girl was/is a child bride. Her husband ditched her. Now, she was going to commit suicide.

Katsuya’s eyes grew in panic. “Oh crap!” he thought. “She’s going to jump! I must do something quick!” The soldier raced over to the girl. She cried even bigger tears. Her future had been a lie. The man she had loved deserted her. She had nothing to live for now. The girl shut her eyes and began to jump. But then… she floated in the air.

The girl opened her eyes and quickly looked up. Katsuya held onto her by her dress tightly. “Two suicide interventions in the same day,” the lt. thought. “This is a little much.” The poor girl struggled to get away.

“LET ME GO!!!” she screamed out. Katsuya didn’t listen. He pulled her back over the edge. The lt. dragged her all the way down the street. The bride fought him the whole way.

“Let me go!” she cried out. “Let me go! Let me go!!! If you don’t take your hands off of me, I’ll scream rape so loud!” Katsuya didn’t answer. He kept on walking. He had to do this. He just had to.

They came to a small milk bar outside of the city. They stopped at the doorway. Katsuya let go of the bride’s arm. She glared at him coldly. The lt. stayed calm.

“Okay,” he said. “Buy us some milks and we’ll talk.” The girl glared at him coldly.

“Why?” she snapped. Katsuya shrugged at her lazily.

“Can’t get it myself,” he replied.

“Why?” she repeated.

“Just do it!” the lt. commanded. The bride rolled her eyes at him.

“Fine!” she snapped. The bride went into the milk bar to get the drinks. Katsuya sat outside and waited. A few minutes passed. The bride didn’t return. Katsuya became slightly worried. “Where is that girl?” he thought. The lt. got up and went inside to check on his little friend.

The bar wasn’t crowded today. So, that made the mission a whole Hell lot easier. Katsuya scanned the bar closely. No child bride in sight. Oh, this is not good! “Where did she go?” the lt. thought. He looked around more. Katsuya began to picture the worst in his mind.

Suddenly… there came a loud CRASH!!! Everyone looked up right away. Katsuya looked over at the bathroom. Right away, he had his answer. The soldier ran all the way to the ladies’ room. One of the pipes overhead had collapsed. Katsuya looked at the damage and put the whole event together in his head. *Sweat drop on his head* “Oh crap!” he thought. “Time to clean up the mess.” The bride tried to hang herself from the pipe with her veil. But unfortunately for her (and luckily for Katsuya,) the pipe was old and broke due to the weight. The lt. looked for the bride in the damage. He found her sitting in the corner crying. Katsuya felt great pity for her. He walked over to her. The lt. picked her up and carried her outside.

They sat under an old cherry tree. The bride cried on still. Katsuya looked over at her.

“That bad?” he asked her. The bride turned to him in silence for a moment. More tears formed in her eyes. The lt. smiled at her some.

“Come here,” he whispered to her softly. Katsuya gently hugged her. The bride cried even more.

“I loved him so much!!!” she cried out against his chest. The lt. nodded.

“I understand,” he replied.

“He left me for a whore!” the girl screamed out. She cried on more. “I have nothing now!!!”

“Shhh!!!” Katsuya whispered to her. “It’s okay. You will heal eventually.” The bride cried on even more. Katsuya sighed out loud. Oh boy, playing the nice guy could be so difficult… and tedious. But, the lt. stayed with her anyway just to be nice for a change. Who knew being a guardian angel could be so annoying? Had to be done through. Had to be done.
