End of a Legend Pt. 1
How long has this fight been going on? Spike and Engel weren’t going to give up. Both gave as much as they got. Spike showed more injuries. Cuts, bruises, cut lower lip, and a black eye. Blood seeped through his torn clothes. He had been through worse fights, but this grueling. What the hell was this guy made? Sure, Engel was a powerful demon of some sort, but this was getting ridiculous. The other man had injuries but most of them had healed away pretty quickly. Engel wiped the blood from his mouth.
“Heh,” he said. If this was how he thought as a human now, what was he like in his former glory? Spike panted.
“Ready to give up?” he asked. He already knew the answer.
“No,” the pale man said before grinning. Figures. Spike was going to have to come up with a way to end this fast. Engel was nearly matched to his skills. Nearly. There had to be a weakness somewhere. What was he missing here?
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard laughter. Spike noticed Engel cackling. He raised his eyebrow. Has he finally lost it?
“What’s so funny?” Spike asked. Engel smirked as he looked up.
“Oh, do forgive me,” he said. “I just had a funny thought.” The cowboy tilted his head.
“What?” he asked. Engel lunged forward with his sword again. Spike was quick to block him. The pale man grinned with his dull eyes.
“You and I have had this fight before,” he said.
“What are you talking about?” Spike asked. He headbutts Engel and kicks him in the stomach. The pale man dropped to the ground. But not before grinning up at him.
“Do you really want to know the truth?” Engel asked. “Do you want to know who is behind all of this? Do you want to know why he’s doing this?” In the distance, KuroSakura lay on the ground with her body battered all over. She lifted her head as her vision started to clear up. Engel had his back to her but she could hear what he was saying.
“What the hell are you doing?” she asked in a soft voice. Spike narrowed his eyes. His hand was moving on its own. The barrel of the gun was on Engel’s forehead. However, his mind was more on his rival in front of him. The pale man didn’t even try to move. He grinned as his hands started to glow faintly. KuroSakura put it together as she saw his hands moving closer to the cowboy’s ankles.
“Oh… So that’s the end game,” she said to herself. The oni-chi saw that she wasn’t needed here. He was calling her back to him. KuroSakura rose to her feet.
“Understood,” she said almost inaudible. She vanished into thin air. Meanwhile, Engel kept his eyes locked on Spike. The cowboy didn’t feel like his was in control anymore. Spike didn’t get time to see what was going on. Only one word came out of his mouth.
“No.”
Bang!
That was his last bullet. Engel didn’t exactly hit the ground. Instead, he slumped over onto Spike. He didn’t let go of his ankles. The pale man grinned the whole time. But something wasn’t right. It shouldn’t have been that easy. Why did Engel give up so easily? He made it clear that he was going to keep fighting. Spike looked down at the body.
“What the hell are you planning?” he asked. That’s when a bolt of energy shot through his body. Spike began breathing heavily. Bright colors flashed before his eyes before his body felt heavy.
Then it all went black.
