The Phone Call
T.J. picked up
the phone on the Bebop.
“Hello?” he
asked.
“Uh… who is
this?” a man asked on the other line.
“It’s me, T.J.”
“Huh? Oh.
Where’s Jet?”
“I don’t know.
He’s not in right now. Look, when are you coming back?”
“In a few days.”
“Okay… Did you
want something?”
“Not really.”
“Did you want to
leave a message or something?”
“So… Why did you
call?”
“I wanted to
talk to Jet.”
“Okay…” T.J.
made a face. “Let me see if I can find him real quick.” He set down the phone
and walked out of the room.
“Jet! Where are
you, man? Jet? Jet?” T.J. called. It dawned on him that he probably should’ve
asked where Spike was. It also dawned on him that he should’ve asked where Jet
went too. Poor planning on his part. T.J. returned to the phone moments later.
“Sorry man,
Jet’s not in.”
“Oh.”
“Anything else?”
“No. Bye.” Spike just hung up. And that was it.
