Chara Info

Name: Rufus Shinra

Age: 24

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 166 lbs

Weapon(s): Shotgun/whatever he could get the Turks to teach him

Appearance: His hair is blonde; cut and kept immaculately in a short fashion styled to frame his face. His bangs are somewhat longer, and often fall in his eyes, leaving him to brush them away. His eyes are blue, and build-wise, he keeps himself trim and fit, but doesn't attempt to stand out in any way. Since the helicopter he was on when Meteor struck Midgar crashed as a result of the shockwaves, Rufus sustained injuries that may leave permanent scarring. One extends from his right cheekbone to his jawline, and the other is a gash that cut his knee open to the bone.

Personality: Reserved and composed, Rufus rarely reveals his thoughts and rarely allows what he feels to show in his expressions. He possesses a sharp intelligence and an almost unnerving calm. He is also arrogant and oftentimes demanding, but never asks of others what he can't do himself. Now, he is a man determined to see the world re-built. Considering his ability for focus, it is extremely difficult to deter him from this path and he will often be seen working beyond what is necessary.

Brief History:

Rufus was born into wealth and prestige, and a loveless marriage. His father was fond of his many liaisons and only married his mother because he required an heir, and a woman to look good on his arm at social functions. It was clear to Rufus, as soon as he was old enough to understand, that his father wanted little to do with him. He was sent, instead, to a tutor where he could learn to speak eloquently, dress well, and understand the complicated world of business.

Since his father wasn't overly concerned with him having playmates, Rufus was often a lonely child, which led to him taking DN from Hojo's lab without the scientists permission. He received a beating from his father for that one, as the man had what he said 'little use for disgusting animals that smell and carry fleas', but he still managed to keep the cat. And he learned to become more secretive, so he could find ways around his father's notice and abuse.

Whether he wanted it or not, Rufus was given the Hydroelectric Plant to manage as his 18th birthday gift. Ripped from Midgar, and shoved into Junon, where he knew no one, Rufus became further withdrawn and made little effort to secure friends. He instead concentrated on his work and his intense dislike for his father.

He was there for six years when Sephiroth killed his father and Shinra became his. To most, Rufus showed no outward sign of grieving. Indeed, he actually seemed very cool and uncaring. It was only those closest to him knew that the actual loss hurt him. For, no matter how often his father tore him down or how estranged their relationship, there was still a portion of him that loved the man that gave him life, if not a name.

So he took hold of Shinra ruthlessly and intended to see if made into what he wanted it to be. He might have succeeded, had life and Sephiroth not had other plans. Meteor was summoned on the Planet, and though Aeris Gainsborough, the last remaining Ancient, summoned Holy to counter, it wasn't enough. Meteor ravaged the Planted, decimating Midgar and claiming an innumerable amount of lives.

Rufus might not have made it out of Midgar himself had Reno, of all people, not knocked him out and shoved him onto a helicopter. He had been intending to get his mother out. And while he doesn't have any severe amount of anamosity toward Reno, he still hasn't forgotten Reno's cold, realistic speech that he could get out and his mother couldn't, so it was better just to accept that life worked the way it worked and forget about it.

When he came too, it was to find the helicopter had crashed and that everyone had survived, but was injured. Reno had a nasty gash in his chin to match the ones on his cheek, and various scrapes, including patch of his back where his clothing had burned off. Rufus had his own injuries to claim, as did the pilot and those who had managed to fit in the chopper.

Now, without blood family, Rufus chose to oversee the re-building of Junon and the running of the Plant, finding his skills for leadership could be better used for gain than anything else. He has no intentions of resurrecting Shinra or attempting to re-build Midgar. The time of reactors and excessive machinery is over for now.

Anything else: Rufus has a pet, Dark Nation (When he was five, Rufus rescued DN as a kitten from Hojo's lab. He was simply a cat before injected with DNA that morphed his cells and made him into the big, sleek animal he is now, complete with a tentacle that sets him apart from other cats. Few, aside from Rufus, have any control over him.)
