Introduction
"So anybody with any bit of intelligence has got to be pissed off because if they see how things are in the world, they're not
going to be happy with it." - Marilyn Manson
I was disgusted by what I saw: Lamers beg incessantly but put forth no real efforts; the regulars do what they can to contribute but are hampered by a lack of information; while the 1337 show off their hoard and demand praise, thinking themselves to be gods.
But the only thing that separates the 1337, the regulars, and the lamers is how determined they are. Those who proclaim themselves as 1337 are no better than the rest of us. I have always believed that almost any task, no matter how seemingly impossible can be accomplished with enough determination.
I've experienced alot of hard work over the past few years, but I don't regret any of it. Through this project, I've learned a whole lot more about ROMs than I could have ever imagined. I've made some wonderful friends in the process. I've also discovered alot of hope. There are people out there who are willing to make a difference. They have the determination, but they don't have the information. It is for these people that I write this guide.
I don't claim to be a super dumper. In fact, I openly admit that I am not. I've screwed up numerous times, and the only reason that I've had any success at all is that I've refused to give up. I have rarely, if ever, gotten any of this right the first time through.
I don't claim that this guide will teach you everything. There are still several intricacies about the NeoGeo which I don't have a clue about. Not only that, I am writing this guide based on my own experiences which are pretty much limited to the NeoGeo. However, the basic principles apply no matter what system you are working on, and I hope that my experiences will give some sort of insight into solving similar problems on different systems.
I don't claim that I know all the answers. I'm not the wisest dumper of all time, hell, I'm not even wise, period. But I am smart enough to at least realize that I still have a very long way to go myself. I am just one man who wanted to make a difference and share his own experiences. I hope that this guide will be a good starting point on your journey into the world of ROM dumping. Good luck, believe in yourself, and HAVE FUN! :)
