Walkthrough of Dumping the KOF2K2 Bootleg
"The ROMs they say are dumped by Neo-0" - To be sung to the tune of Marilyn Manson's "Dope Show"
Now that we have gone through all the basic concepts of ROM dumping, it's time to look at how we can apply these concepts to a real life situation.
The next two sections are a walkthrough on how I dumped the KOF2K2 bootleg. I am only dealing with the C and P ROMs. The V, M1, and S1 ROMs were damaged on my board and could not be dumped straight off.
The S1 was a moot point since we could create one from the C ROMs after they were descrambled by simply encrypting them and then decrypting them. This method is NOT flaky, since it yields a GOOD S1. If it WERE flaky, then the S1 that was created would not have given the correct text font. You can test this out for yourself by subbing the S1 intended for one ROM set into a different set. You will get the incorrect font at best, and at worst, you will get garble.
The V ROMs were severely damaged, but luckily, before I wasted any time in trying procedures to bypass it like I had the P ROMs, they were already dumped and released by Billy Jr along with the M1. If the V ROMs had NOT been severely damaged, then I would have dumped them in pretty much the same way I would dump normal V ROMs. The only difference would be that I would have had to disable the V ROMs that I was not trying to read (see the C ROMs walkthrough section for more details on disabling ROMs).
The M1 that Wind dumped turned out to be the same as what was released, so there was no point in us re-releasing it. That dump was done just like a normal M1. If you are confused at what I mean by dumping it like normal, please click here to go back to the ROM Select section of this guide that deals with this issue.
There are several references to previous sections, so I highly recommend reading those sections before reading this walkthrough.
